Saturday October 20, 2007 Hong Kong In his capacity as ambassador for the Hong Kong Wetland Park, Chow Yun Fat (周潤發) took part in a promotional event today to start preparations for the 2008 World Wetlands Day on 02 February. He was presented with a souvenir and the title by Miss Cheung Siu-hing JP (張少卿), Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation for the Hong Kong Legislative Council. At the event, Chow said that he felt the government needed to address the protection issues of the Hong Kong Wetlands and also the problems around the families living in the adjacent areas in Tin Shui Wai. He also took part in a discussion with local students, during which he suggested that perhaps a change of name would help with the bad luck that has surrounded the park since it was built. In his address, Chow said that the Chief Executive's report was not protective enough of the people and in matters as important as the social issues in Tin Shui Wai, then the basics such as the helplines should be fully staffed and funded. He hoped that the government will not only help the poor families, but also provide for the other groups in need and provide more kindergartens, youth centres and social workers for the region. He also suggested offering more tourist visas to mainland wives to visit and look after elderly relatives. Asked if he has been out to look around in Tin Shui Wai, Chow laughed that he had been to the Lotus Pond to take photographs and he did see people gambling on Guanyin Hill, but he did not want to be accused of being a vigilante. As for whether he would like to embark on a political career, Chow laughed that he is already a little nutty, so if he did become a politician, it might make him crazy. He also admitted that he did not have the qualifications to take up a position in office. credits: batgwa.
He is a Legend! He doesn't need to be a politician. It's enough to hint the problems with his famous status.
