Sunday March 16, 2008 Hong Kong The Louis Vuitton flagship store in Tsimshatsui held a grand opening presentation on Friday, comprising of a number of events through the day and the evening. The first of these events was the unveiling of the Moving Pictures gallery, which features a presentation of 18 black and white photographic creations by Hong Kong and Hollywood superstar Chow Yun Fat (周潤發). The exhibition will be on show to the public for three months from 16 March to 15 June as part of the opening celebrations for the LV store. Keen amateur photographer Chow attended the event with his wife, Jasmine Tan (陳薈蓮), and explained that he had agreed to take part in this project during an LV event in Paris, three years ago, and he was very excited at the honour of working with such a great label. He told of one of the photographs of Gong Li (鞏利), showing her preparing for filming of The Curse Of The Golden Flower <滿城盡帶黃金甲>, was taken without her knowledge and laughed that there were other more revealing photographs, but he had to delete them immediately to avoid his wife seeing them. Another of Chow's favourites was the picture of Roger Spottiswoode, director of The Children of Huang Shi and Tomorrow Never Dies. Chow revealed that he has been taking black and white photographs for around eight years and that if filming schedules were not too intense, then he liked to take photos of life behind the scenes. He laughed that for the photographs of the servant girls from Curse, he was grateful to the film's director Zhang Yimou (張藝謀) for inviting him in to photograph this scene. Chow seems to have lost some weight since his last appearance in Hong Kong and he smiled that he had has lost around 10 lbs because he was not able to acclimatise to the conditions during filming for Dragonball recently in Mexico. He joked that he was detoxing by eating gravel like dogs and cats do. Asked about the rumours suggesting that there are delays and obstructions to the release of The Children of Huang Shi, Chow insisted that there are no problems and the film is very positive and based on a true story, so there should be no issues caused by politics or lack of support for production. credits: batgwa.
