Chilam Cheung (張智霖) had a huge surprise when he went to work for the Hong Kong crime film S Storm <S風暴> yesterday. The actor, who turned 44 years old on August 27, found himself at a surprise birthday party his friends and cast members had put together for him when he arrived on the set of the Pegasus Motion Pictures film on early Thursday morning. When Chilam arrived to the movie set at 12 am, producer Raymond Wong (黃百鳴), S Storm’s cast and crew, Chilam’s manager Stephen Shiu Jr (蕭定一), Chilam’s close friend Calvin Choy (蔡一智), and Chilam’s wife Anita Yuen (袁詠儀), surprised the actor with a birthday song and four custom-made birthday cakes. Raymond, Stephen, and Calvin also wore similar checkered-pattern shirts. “We all decided to wear this for Chilam,” they explained. “It wasn’t planned and completely unintentional.” Later that day, Chilam was asked about his feelings toward the surprise event his friends had planned for him. Chilam joked, “What surprise? If they decided to not celebrate my birthday, I’d definitely be surprised!” Was Anita’s appearance on set shocking? “She was definitely not a shocker. I was the one who told her to visit me on set!
