Free-to-air television owner Ricky Wong has declared war on TVB by poaching its talents for his new TV station.

Former TVB actress Charmaine Sheh, who shares a close relationship with Ricky, is rumoured to have secretly approached her friends to jump ship as well. Ricky was also rumoured to have approached actors Bowie Lam, Joe Ma and Michael Tao.

In recent years, Charmaine, who is currently on a project-basis contract with TVB, had been busy with her career in both Hong Kong and China.

It is believed that Ricky is now the boss of her management agency and had even prepared a new drama, in which the actress will play the leading role.

Seeing that she is doing well, Charmaine had approached her friends to join her. The first is Catherine Chau, whose contract will end at the end of October. Tavia Yeung will be next.

Commenting on the report, Catherine -- who did not have a major breakthrough in TVB during her 13 years there -- responded through her manager, "[We are] still in negotiation with many companies."

With Ricky's new television station opening in March next year, a majority of talents from TVB had officially signed themselves over.

Those who had left TVB included screenwriter Lau Choi Wan, whose work include Ghetto Justice and Born Rich. Choi Wan is currently in the midst of writing a new drama, which will be a modern-day ghost story.

"Ricky said that TVB did not have any prominent ghost story in recent years. He thought that there's potential in the genre and had someone work on the screenplay, making it the station's first drama. Charmaine, Joe, Michael and Bowie will star in the show," an insider said.

Responding to the report, Joe confessed that he had dined with Ricky and they have discussed the possibility of collaboration.

Michael expressed that no one had approached him but looked forward to working together.

Bowie replied through his manager that he would not respond to any questions on talent-poaching.

i hope that does happen though...as long as we have access to those series just like we do for TVB and ATV here...

i mean i love free market where theres a lot of competition...that forces people in a way to stop writing crap...

It's all about quality, if he can make good stuff, viewers don't really care as much if they have the quality to back up the actors...

ATV had some big stars in their so called big budget dramas, but those weren't as popular either...
