Chai Gau brought luck, Tavia Yeung's warehoused series sees daylight Rosy Business ended on Friday 30th May, attracting the hot support from the whole city. That night, the situation was as extreme as having less people walking on the street. Wayne Lai, who just got the Best Supporting Actor Award from last year anniversary, finally brought pride to himself and has the chance of being crowned TV King this year. According to information, it's due to Chai Gau's credit that Sweetness in the Salt, which is led by Tavia Yeung who won the Best Supporting Actress Award in the same year as Wayne's and was originally warehoused, is finally going to see the daylight. Sweetness and Rosy both have the word "Hiu" (in the Chinese Title). They are also by the same Producer Lee Tim Sing. Moreover, other than the lead artistes Tavia Yeung, Steven Ma, Raymond Wong, the big young master Bit Man Kanin Ngo and the King Kwok Fung from Rosy are also present. TVB hopes that Rosy's power will bring benefits to the new series. Will this strategy work? We will know in one week time. Chai Gau is greatly popular. He is immediately offered to sign contract and recruited as TVB's biological son. Moreover, of course TVB would not want to waste their food. It hopes to follow the treatment of Laughing Gor, change the ending so Chai Gau can turn alive, film a prequel, film a sequel. But Chai Gau is someone with a character, saying one word No! TVB immediately changed to Plan B - Chai Gau joined the cast in , ordered Lee Tim Sing to immediately start filming new series , and benefited Sweetness in the Salt which has the same "Hiu" word in their title to escape the fate of being warehoused. Aired earlier in Malaysia Sweetness in the Salt has finished filming in early 2008. The main lead is last year Best Supporting Actress Tavia Yeung, being caught in between two men, Steven Ma and Raymond Wong. TVB gave up the broadcast of this series in Hong Kong. This series had been broadcasted in Malaysia in January. Even though it has been said that this series was supposed to air during the Chinese New Year which has just passed, but it was finally warehoused because it has too much bloody scenes. "Originally the company doesn't have much confidence for this series, the cast is not strong, and Tavia Yeung is not a first line lead actress. But due to the great response to Rosy Business, the current audiences like to watch series with artistes from "acting skill group", plus the two series' Producer is Lee Tim Sing, since the Best Supporting Actor succeeded in showcasing this time, it is also wished to see how the Best Supporting Actress will fare in the market," an informed person said. The new series as Tavia's exam Sweetness in the Salt was previously named . Sing Suet is Tavia's character's name in the series. Therefore, the series is clearly focusing on Tavia Yeung. In the past, Tavia Yeung has rarely main-leading, even in Heart of Greed, Building Blocks of Life, Father and Son, etc, she is more often a supporting character or sharing the lead. Therefore, this new series will be counted as Tavia's exam. Actually Tavia Yeung can be said to be of 'red pants origin' (What does this mean? Is it a slang/idiom? Can anyone translate this for me?). She joined the 13th TVB Acting class in 1999. In 2003, Tavia Yeung who had entered the industry for 6 years finally won the Most Improved Actress Award for her 'Wet' girl role in Vigilant Force. After that, she begins to lead in Vigilante in the Mask and Prince of Shadow, becoming TVB's house fadan. Now house fadans in TVB who are considered to be foundation power are not many. Charmaine Sheh's age began to gradually become old, Sonija Kwok often has rumours around her, Myolie Wu is called 'Helpless' Wu by people, Fala Chan has not reached higher position as of now. Tavia Yeung and Linda Chung are already considered as possessing the most potential. It's understandable that this time TVB hopes to borrow the power of Chai Gau and let Tavia Yeung took another step to a higher position. Tavia Yeung and Steven Ma has collaborated in Land of Wealth in 2006. At that time, it was double main lead actor and double main lead actress arrangement. Other than Tavia Yeung and Steven Ma, there are also Sonija Kwok and Moses Chan. This series only achieved average ratings in Hong Kong, the average rating being 25 points. However, the response in China was good, recording rating of over 30 points. Bit Man also acted in Sweetness In Sweetness, the Tseung's big young master Kanin Ngo and the King Kwok Fung respectively acted as Steven Ma's good friend and salt trader (Raymond Wong's father). Will the extreme fanatics of Rosy watch this series for the sake of "loving both the house and the bird" (Chinese expression of saying when you love someone, you love that the things that relate to that someone too)? When I first saw this series, I really enjoyed it and loved the ending and I am glad that they can air this in Hong Kong now. Tavia deserves a chance to show people what she gots and Steven Ma is in it, it shouldn't be a series that people wouldn't like anyways.
sweetness of salt was not a bad movie!!! and that "Hiu" word mentioned in the movie. i had no idea what that word was. i had to keep listening to the guy talking after the episode ends to learn the proper pronunciation of that word. lOL
i've watched sweetness in the salt, and though the story isn't as as good as Rosy Business, it's still pretty interesting, and much much better compared to several other movies aired this year like man in charge. and TVB should give tavia more chances to take on the female lead role - i think she can carry it off
Well it is a different story..... Besides, Rosy does not have a good ending like Sweetness in the Salt....
