Cecilia Chung is due to give birth in August, but due to a pending court case she has not been able to rest with a peace of mind. After nearly having to settle a dispute with her earlier management company in court, Cecilia is now being sued by another company for breach of contract causing them loss of 2 million RMB. The case is currently being tried, and the heavily pregnant Cecilia hopes that it would be closed as soon as possible. Cecilia Chung and Nicholse Tse’s baby is due next month, but Cecilia is currently plagued with a court case due to a breach of contract with a company. The company is seeking compensation of 2 million RMB. The facts of the case are as follows: on the 4th of November 2002, Cecilia had signed a 2 year endorsement contract with the company promoting slimming products. The contract stipulated that she could not sign any contract with other companies promoting similar slimming products as from the 9th of November 2002. However in 2003, media in Beijing printed advertisements of Cecilia endorsing slimming products from another company. The company is of view that this was a serious breach of contract on Cecilia’s part, and seeks compensation of 2 million RMB. Although this case is currently being tried, the heavily pregnant Cecilia has not appeared in court. Her lawyer expressed that as Cecilia was in her 9th month of pregnancy, she hoped that the case would be closed as soon as possible. In court, both parties have seemed agreeable to a settlement. But Cecilia’s lawyer expressed that the case will continue to be tried as both parties have not agreed to the terms of settlement. Actually, Cecilia and the company have been in dispute for a long time. In 2004, Cecilia had sued the company for breach of right of portrait.
