With his TVB contract expiring shortly, Bowie Lam revealed in program <新派煮意> that he had dinner with Virginia Lok Yi Ling and Tommy Leung Ka Shu recently. “Ms. Lok had a lot of sincerity. Tommy Leung invited me to film Happy House, Hidden Dragon <樂府藏龍> and the sequel to Health Oddities <健康奇案錄>. I am still considering the offers.” When asked whether his salary would increase, Bowie replied, “The pay would not increase much! For an artist, the most important thing is to be offered a good role. I have been offered mainland roles as well. The script(s) were written in great detail. I want to allow some flexibility….” Regarding Sammul Chan Kin Fung and Michael Tao Dai Yu complaining of TVB’s low wages, Bowie strongly supported TVB. “So many complaints? On the other hand, I am luckier. Artists should not look at money too heavily!” In response to Joe Ma Tak Chung’s wife complaining of T VB’s strenuous work conditions, Bowie said, “They know that! If you are going to eat salted fish, you have to withstand thirst! (食得鹹魚抵得渴)” Source: Jayne Stars
Hmm I swear I posted on this thread about, if I remember correctly I said something about good way of thinking; it's not about money but rather how good your acting is.
Well, I do support what Bowie said. As an artist, if you enjoy your work as an artist, you should only look at the script. Money is important but if an artist feels like they aren't being paid well enough to work as an artist, then don't take the job or go get another sidekick job which will earn you more money.
TVB's quality of working conditions and productions have been a source of complaints for a number of years, now it seems like everything is boiling over with the actors! Well except for Bowie I guess?
People complaints all the time even when they have it better than most, I'm sure TVB feels they have the upper hand in most cases and they will try to cut costs here and there cause they can, being the top dog in HK. Most of the bigger celebs want more money and they know they have options to head north so they use that as bargaining tool. Bowie has been in the ET business for a long time and he has made a decent living out if it. He knows what he wants and have his own thoughts about these issues.
I reckon those artists that complains are totally so ungrateful. If it wasn't for TVB, they won't be as popular or get the exposure that they're getting now. Just becoz they're contract now expires, they should at least respect the station for what TVB have provided them over the years. Nothing is for free, rewards come with hardwork.
