With his TVB contract expiring shortly, Bowie Lam revealed in program "新派煮意" that he had dinner with Virginia Lok Yi Ling and Tommy Leung Ka Shu recently. “Ms. Lok had a lot of sincerity. Tommy Leung invited me to film Happy House, Hidden Dragon "樂府藏龍" and the sequel to Health Oddities "健康奇案錄". I am still considering the offers.”

When asked whether his salary would increase, Bowie replied, “The pay would not increase much! For an artist, the most important thing is to be offered a good role. I have been offered mainland roles as well. The script(s) were written in great detail. I want to allow some flexibility….”

Regarding Sammul Chan Kin Fung and Michael Tao Dai Yu complaining of TVB’s low wages, Bowie strongly supported TVB. “So many complaints? On the other hand, I am luckier. Artists should not look at money too heavily!” In response to Joe Ma Tak Chung’s wife complaining of TVB’s strenuous work conditions, Bowie said, “They know that! If you are going to eat salted fish, you have to withstand thirst! (食得鹹魚抵得渴)”

Well said about offerring a good role rather than seeing money as the key. I find it annoying how most of the good actors/actress contract is expiring. Mainly Charmaine's.

Too much actors' contracts are expiring. If they dont give them a good deal.. TVB will have no more actors!

I kinda agreed with Bowie about the long hours which is normal and expected for people in the industry. Joe's wife should have known better; there were others working just as hard like her husband. It was not like Joe was doing it alone.

I disagreed with the payment though. For actor like Sammul Chan who's still young and all, it's normal to aspire to earn more in the industry because once his youth is gone, he can't cash in anymore. Like Bowie and Michael Tao, these people just have to settle for whatever. They're old veteran actors and not exactly "popular"; should be happy to have jobs at this time in the industry. It's known that one's salary in the showbiz depends on popular demand, not one's seniority in the industry. For them, I think they should really focus on quality roles; not $$ because that's the only option.

I can understand TVB's low salary because they do invest in training new talents and creating opportunities for them. Of course, I can't say the training is superb based on the recent group of actors and actresses like Bosco, Linda chung, Fala, Kate Tsui, Myolie, and Ron who FAILED big time yet still given so many opportunities based on physical appearance and popularity rather than real talents.
