Since Bernice Liu failed to win the "Most Improved Actress" Award at the TVB Anniversary, there have been rumors that this was due to her recent refusal to sign a 8 year contract with TVB. Thus TVB decided to give the award to Kate Tsui Tsi San instead! Bernice said, "The rumors are false. Since arriving in Hong Kong, I have joined TVB. My contract with TVB has not ended yet." (Will Bernice consider signing a 8 year contract with TVB?) "I have not thought about it. That matter will be decided by my manager." Although losing out on the awards this year, Bernice continued to receive numerous job offers. Perhaps this will soothe her disappointment at the TVB Anniversary Awards ceremony last week. Wearing a golden silk dress paired with a $1.3 million (HKD) jade butterfly necklace at a promotional event for Artistic Palace yesterday, Bernice said she often spots butterflies, even when she goes jogging. One time, a butterfly flew on Bernice's hand three times. A person with an illness was present at the time. Perplexed by where the butterfly suddenly appeared from, Bernice thought it was a bad omen. As a result, Bernice's father laughed at her and corrected her mis-interpretation. [jayne]

So sad to hear that Bernice did not win. She has shown tremendous improvement since joining and hopefully she will not let this affect her career.
sheesh! just blame it on the contract! that is so not true! Bernice is still so bad at acting! don't know why the news even bothers with it! how could they have thought she could win? Thanks for sharing though
If this is true...it is so unfair....Last time, in 2002, Moses Chan faced the same issue. He was supposed to get Best Male Award but bcoz he refused to sign a 10year contract, he didnt win it....
My jaw just dropped when I heard that Kate Tsui won the award rather than Bernice for most improving actress. Sigh. I guess TVB award really is worthless. We, audience all witnessed how much Bernice has improved over the years. She'd come a long way. Anyhow, we all know that Kate Tsui has someone somewhere backing her since the pageant. If ya'll even seen the pageant, you would know that Kate iwas probably the last person you would think stood out from the crowd with her beauty, talents, and presentation. However, she took home the crown. Again, audiences saw her bad acting yet, she took home the award. Not to mention all the good leading and supporting roles in the past. It appears to me that "luck" has nothing to do with it.
TVB always does that though they always pick favorites bernice really improved so much and everyone knows that she really should have won kate hasnt done too much like shes good but to me she hasnt left any impact and in on the first beat she made me wanna hate her so much. but tvb loves to pick favorites and they use awards only to promote people its all riged and so everyone who votes doesnt even matter. No one though it was gunna be Kate who won the award she just came out of no where.
What do expect from TVB? I believe all award shows in TVB were rigged fom the start. Only giving to those that are obedient or they are going to promote in the future. Does Bernice deserve to win this award? Yes I do but since Kate Tsui won...well there might be some truth to the news article...8 years is a long time to sign...it's like slavery, man!!!
Bernice is sooo awesome! Probably a very big disappointment for a lot of ppl since there has been so many rumors about her getting the award... btw that dress is NICE! combined with her necklace it makes her look so elegant!
