Raising the Bar <四個女仔三個Bar> recently aired to positive reviews and moderate ratings. Having been friends for many years, Elaine Yiu (姚子羚) and Ben Wong (黃智賢) displayed much compatibility in portraying a married couple in the series. While Ben and Elaine had starred in many series together, Raising the Bar was the first time they were paired romantically. They said, “We’ve known each other for many years and are quite familiar with each other, so we didn’t have any problems with chemistry. By the middle of filming, we understood each other’s wants without words being exchanged.” Elaine and Ben both expressed that the most difficult onscreen moments were with their 13-year-old son in the series. Although Ben is not a stranger to fatherly roles, this was the first time Ben had a teenager son in a series. Elaine added, “There was a scene where I had to yell at him until he cried. In an earlier scene, he couldn’t get his tears out. I rehearsed with him for a long time and found out that his grandfather dotes on him a lot, so I asked him how he would feel if his grandfather didn’t care about him. He was able to cry then.” Outlooks for the Year of the Sheep Due to the positive reception of Raising the Bar, Ben expressed that he would like to film a sequel. “I really like my character and the script is very well-written. Many fans online have also praised that the legal knowledge is very rich and detailed.” Currently still single, Elaine was teased whether she hopes to follow the footsteps of her good friend, Myolie Wu (胡杏兒), and find her significant other this year. Elaine laughed and replied, “I wish! Her boyfriend is a good man and I’m very happy for her! But it is not up to me. It is up to fate.” Creds: stheadline
