I don't think it matters what religion people are so long as they promote peace, harmony and good people. People should use religion to establish a moral foundation. Laws of a country do not cover every aspect of human values.
Believe in yourself That's what's up! I always believe in myself. I don't think God is always there to help you.
Yes sometimes I don't understand how people can be so into their religion and almost give up everything for it. People should believe in themselves.
Because one needs to be reassured of the "meaning of life" and beyond. Plus, one would be told that one is part of the solution instead of the problem (of any problem, serious) when it comes to religion. Religion give the excuse to judge others with righteousness behind their back. And yeah, add to that Vatican being one of the richest organization in the world.
Religion also gives explanation to any possible outcome... if you succeed, it's a reward (or you worked hard at this reward), if you fail, it's a challenge to your soul etc etc. Don't have to face the fact that you just didn't work it out good enough. Place the blame elsewhere.
god is suppose to be a guidance to life and every religion is revovled into one thing be good to those around you and yourself dont harm no one nor yourself its all a harmony thing just the extremist take it the wrong way
@NYC: There's always the extremists (on whom everyone blames the wrong deed), but on average, having a religious affiliation does not gurantee the person will do good deed. So if doing good is independent of religion, why should we be faithful to it? If it is just for the good teaching, not for the punishment and rewards described in doctrines, I really see little to no point to believe. Of course many will beg to differ, but this comment was just based on THAT particular perspective of seeing religion (as organized good-doers).
i totally agree on that point with you hiake no matter what it is there is always someone that takes things the wrong way and becomes a extremist and does everything the wrong way
Religion generally is not bad since they teach people the way of life and provide some life guidelines to follow. What I don't like about religions is that they make up some omnipotent role model and believe it is real (ie. God); therefore, making its followers praise and pray to the model in order to be a "good" human being.
From the way I see it in my 'religion' Buddhism, I think of it this way... when I burn joss-sticks and pray and 'worship' to Buddha; I am just showing my respect to Him and those others who have 'crossed' over and attained Nirvana... And the act of burning joss-sticks and other papery stuff are more like a tradition for me than a 'must' or sth you should do to worship a God; but I just prefer to stick with the tradition since I was brought up that way and I don't find it uncomfortable to do so. It's not about blind worship though; it's just my respect and to take Him as a role-model for me. After all, only very very few of us can really do all good and no evil in this world to get where they are at now.
