Skippie probably entered his banner a little late.... I agree...his banner look awesome, it fit the forum theme , it better than the TOP 3... but the TOP 3 are very decent

No, seriously... ------------------------- I like skippie's a lot too (yes better than my submissions), and I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but to have a 1 post non-contributing finalist beat out dedicated members just doesn't seem right. If they wanted a super banner and not care what we thought, they could have just get some graphic specialist to do the work? Shrug, just a thought. I actually think this shows a lot about our mods here at PA.

i really like your banner... but i think the Mods probably wanted something people are familiar with. your's is too modern-looking... it'd look kinda weird on the forum. or maybe thats just what i think. its really nice though. =]

Well then, lets play critic. Minimalist thinking is definately a trend that's in. However, minimalists still tend to have more than 2 colors. They also pick colors that offer plenty of contrast to make appropriate things stand out (not 2 bright colors that blurs more than stands out). A balance of curves and lines are also considered, because when there are few things to look at, each of aspect have that much more impact. See the current Honda CRAVE billboards? If not, it's a color picture of the new CRV on a white background and the word CRAVE, with emphasis on the letters C,R, and V inside. So when one chooses to go plain, it can definately work, but TOO plain just becomes dull. Too bright, and too plain is what you offered us in that sig picture. As for "clutter", it can very much work for a site. Especially for a sight such as this. Take this into consideration, if you are trying to promote a night club through a photo, would you take a picture of an empty club? Or a picture of a jam packed club with people having fun? The point of #3 doesn't have to be people that recognize to be effective, just as long as we understand that the pictures are indeed members (and it does get that point across). And as for the messy look, it can be made to work as well. http://www.fortminor.com/base.html When the whole site is rather straight edged with few curves, a slight mess at the top can really stand out, so #2 has potential (although not my favorite). I won't disclose the reasonings for #1 as what others see and what I see can be very different. It doesn't matter to me who wins, disqualify mine if you mods feel necessary, I just don't like seeing people's work being insulted undeservingly.

I can see where AbercK is coming from... he joined to forum to make banners and I'm sure he absolutely wants the best of the best to be displayed and it just didn't seemd like the mods considered all of the options...
