cultural differences, i hate english drama because they are always too serious. but main thing is cultural differences i like asian culture!
I prefer asian drama cause they are shorter. Like everything is wrapped-up in 12 episodes in a jdorama while some american dramas last at least one year. Besides, people are not w*** who sleep with everybody around. And what exactly do you mean by american drama? Soap like General Hospital or something like Lost?
American dramas doesn't really have an ending does it? It just go off the air if ratings are low. I don't really watch soap, only shows like That 70's Show, Malcolm in the Middle, Seinfeld, and Friends, comedy stuff. But I think I watch more asian dramas though.
I agree with popolopa. asian drama is usually short while american drama such as smallville has been on air for years. I usually only watch drama that already end so I wont be curious about what will happen next since I can watch it till the end
american dramas usually have sex in it or sex related, just like their music video i perfer chinese dramas because it is more approriate and has more meaning
even though i watch a lot of the american drama i do prefer the asian ones. mainly because the american drama is per episode based and not much on the bigger picture like one big story. exception would probably be 24 and prison break. i like dramas that have a begining and end.
Asian dramas loh, I don't like dramas that are long. It's gets boring when similar things happens again. And I like the stories in asian ones more, at least there is a meaning in it then just jumping in bed with each other which the american dramas mostly are about, no offence. =P
Asian dramas normally would have a continuous and clear storyline (especially those HK, Taiwan production) which American series runs in seasons and relatively 'loose' storyline. Well, i enjoy both of them
Chinese dramas from HK or Taiwan tend to be based as some have commented, on Chinese culture,history,folklore or family life. I like them as they remind us of our cultural heritage when we are living in the west. Yet at the sametime, western drama has appeal as again they focus on life as it is in reality. You say, it includes sex and violence. I think they reflect the society it is, unfortunately.
i agree....asian dramas are have a more simple storyline it's also short and sweet hate to waiting weeks or months for a new one
asian drama all the way american drama like 1-2 a week asian like tvb like 5 epo a week tvb is predictable which we like american drama about sex I like simple show rather than sex
I prefer asian dramas more especially those tvb ones. but i do like some american drama like csi and csi ny. i reckon they are the best cop drama...
i like the asian influenced american dramas like the last samurai. i personally like asian dramas more...probably because i like the asian culture more and that i can relate more to them.
I like asian dramas more. They have a more interesting storyline and seems to me to have more action than those like "general hospitals." At least for me, the american dramas seem to just zoom in on a person for a long time rather than the whole situation.
I never really watched any American dramas =.= I usually watch TVB dramas.. so yeah. I think Asian dramas are better though. xP
I like to watch some of the american dramas but just can get into watching the daytime soap, but mainly tvb since that all my parent watches.
