Do you have an asian name ? If you do, does your friend use it or only your family ? I have a chinese name but only used by family (the elders). Even my cousins use my western name when we speak.
Pretty safe to say everyone has an asian name. But everyone calls me by my english name, even my grandparents. I prefer it cause it seems more casual.
I have one too, most of my family who don't speak English will call me by my chinese name but all my friends call me by English name.
Yes, most of immigrants have another name from their country even now but not sure about who would use it. It's the same for me, only people who cant' use my western name use my chinese one. It's a litte sad for the future for people like us living in another country than the one we're from, we may lose it. I'll give one to my children but I'm not sure for the other generation
My chinese teacher and my grandma in China calls me by my Chinese name, otherwise a child name is still used even now... Few time they called that name in front of my friends and that was embarrassing....
