>_< I'm such a procrastinator, my exams are next week and i feel so screwed! I'm a sophmore and I'm taking my AP European history exam, anyone else taking it? or any other ones? I think it is held around the same time for all states? I'm in desperate need of advice. I DON'T WANT TO BE THE ONLY THAT FAILS IT. According to my teacher, only 2 students or so failed the exam last year... the odds are against me!
IMO and from experience, AP is overrated especially for science and math-related subjects. If you don't pass the APs for college credit, you will end up retaking many of those courses (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Calculus, etc) in college.
i think it's a good thing ur taking ap in ur sophmore yr. u shuldn't be too nervous about it, afterall ap is just another test like the practice ones from the ap reviews. u can bs on ur test cause their is a essay section. unlike me, u couldn't bs in physics
I remember those AP exams. A definite must take in high school. The price of an exam is only about 80 dollars and that can net you about 3 credits if you pass at least. By the time I started college thanks in part to AP exams I was already a Sophomore.
I dont think AP exams were that helpful because they tranfer them as elective credits in my college so I couldnt do other things which I wanted. Do well on them if you can but dont stress.
Took AP Calculus Exam 2 weeks ago THE HARDEST EXAM IN THE WORLD!!!! I left half of it blank!!! haha, luckily i didn't have to pay to write it
AP Phyics was the worst ever. Best one to take is econ though. Didn't really study, and still did really well when I took it in high school.
That's another thing about AP tests; if you pass them, you only get college credit which do not factor into your cumulative GPA. Most of the credits that you may get by passing an AP test are usually for 1-200 level courses (ie., the easy A's classes). If you want to inflate your GPA in college, you should probably stay away from AP...just my 2 cents.
just curious, does everyone take AP exams at the same weeks, because i took mine during the first 2 weeks of May. my opinion about APs are, if you have a great teacher that well-prepares you, you shouldn't do AS bad. if you're teacher doesn't help you at all during classes and lectures, you're doomed. i remember someone putting AP Physics are tortures, i agree. my AP Physics teacher's notes and lectures does not help me at all. seriously, during homework, his notes are absolutely not helpful, i always end up staying up throughout the night for homework. but then, physics is a complicated subject. i'm just relieved i dropped out of that class before my grades dragged down too much. anyway, the exams i took this year we're easier and better than i thought. hopefully that's a good sign.
Haha...the same kinda happened to me when I took AP Physics in HS. The teacher (who has a PhD in physics!) couldn't teach it worth anything. Funny thing is is how most of the mechanics stuff spontaneously became easy when I took physics in college. Damn F=ma and coordinate diagrams! Hahaha
ap exams were hard. more than half of the exam had material we never covered. and i failed all my ap exams. i took a total of 5 and failed all and i'm not ashamed either. and it's true you do end up taking those classes again in college
So...are you all saying I shouldn't apply for any more AP courses? That it won't benefit me in the long run?
Don't worry about the AP exams, I mean it's really good for having extra credits in college so you don't have to take it again, but if you failed dont sweat it, no biggie. Just take it again when you're in college, and plus you are just a sophmore. I took mine when i was a senior!!!
well i took the pre-ap exams they were pretty easy the sceince was harder since we werent learning ap stuff cuz we were forced to learn things from the standard test and english was hard too. i thought math was the easiest.
I disagree. AP credit can get you out of a lot of the "weeder" classes in college (eg basic calculus, english, chemistry, biology, physics) and allow you to take easier "elective" type classes which you can ace to bump up your GPA. I did that and kept my GPA in the 3.8s and was able to graduate in 3 years....
