Wednesday May 7, 2008 China The overwhelming box-office success of the action-adventure flick "The Forbidden Kingdom" has prompted its producers to shoot a sequel. Sources from the film's Chinese investor and distributor, Huayi Brothers, said Tuesday they will once again collaborate with Hollywood for part two of the Jackie Chan-Jet Li film, the Beijing Times reported. The two action heroes will appear in the follow-up film, together with actress Li Bingbing, who made her major Hollywood debut with "Forbidden Kingdom." The sequel is likely to feature a romance between Jet Li and Li Bingbing's characters, the Beijing Times report says. According to earlier rumors, Huayi Brothers president Wang Zhongjun said a sequel would be made if global revenue of "The Forbidden Kingdom" hit US$50 million. The film raked in almost half that amount in its opening weekend in North America two weeks ago, topping the local box office with US$20.9 million. According to the Beijing Times, the US$70-million film has already broken even. credits: cri.
guess i must've been really outdated cuz i haven't heard anything about it at all .. first or second ...lol with this freaking sucking econ, work comes first alright.
i dont really like the story to the first one really messed up the original to journey to the west...damn Hollywood always mess up our stories >.<
I love the fighting scenes the most and the background or scenery. But as for a sequel, I am not too sure is there anymore to say. Jet with Li bing bing. that will be weird. I will rather see more of crystal liu and the guy. Li bing bing died already in part 1 unless she returns for another character. The plot isnt really strong in part 1 and I have to agree, it does messes up the original journey to the west.
o0os` thats nice but then i want them to make the story line more interesting because the one that is out is not as good as i thought it would beee
It was alright. Most people wanted to watch this because it is first time jet li and jackie chan together in a international movie. The story line could have been more interesting. Hopefully if sequel is out, it will be better and more interesting than the first one.
The film would have been better if Jet Li and Jacky were either partners or enemies, not as cameo characters. It wasn't all that great. Maybe the sequel will be better?
Forbidding Kingdom was good but it could have been great. Actors were great. Fighting was awesome. The plot/idea was good too. Where did the script go? I had a hard time understand most of what jackie and jet was talking about. The script for the series could have been better. Felt like there wasn't any story development in the middle. The movie had a good beginning and ending but then nothing in the middle kinda dragged. They also could have gotten a better actor to play the kid like Shia LaBeouf. They wasn't much humor as the usual jackie chan movies so I was a bit disappointed there. But then at the where did the usual funny ending credits go. I hope the sequel will have a better director/script writer. Also, I would have rather have the movie in chinese with subs. It sounded better with chinese dialog like the part jet and jackie was talking with each other after their fight. All in all I loved watching jackie and jet. They were awesome
i didnt watch this yet, but if there's gonna be a sequel, it better be good. :] i'll be glad to see jackie chan in another film though.
The movie was pretty cool to me, I had low expectations when I went to watch it. So I thought it was good. Hopefully the sequel will have scenes with bigger battles.
I thought the first movie was alright, could have been a lot better. I didn't expect them to be faithful to the Journey of the West story. If they are really going to make a sequel, a better script and director is needed. I liked Li Bingbing's character the most in the first one and they made her death pretty open so I wouldn't be surprised if she was alive.
i'm really glad that they are going to be making another movie. I thought the first one was really good.
