Angela Tong Receives Another Ugly Award TVB's English language channel Pearl announced the results of the Ten Most Popular Drama Series polls for 2007 today as well as the results of the vote for the best male and female characters and TVB's own promotional ambassador. Prison Break topped the table for the most popular foreign language series this year, followed by other hit shows of the year including Heroes, Mother at 14 and Ugly Betty. Classic favourites including ER and Desperate Housewives also made the top ten. The favourite character awards went to Prison Break male lead Michael Scofield and Ugly Betty - Betty Suarez. As for TVB's own winners, the favourite promotional ambassador award were Angela Tong (湯盈盈)'s portrayal of Betty. Other celebrity fans of overseas television series were also present to show their support, including Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤), Sharon Luk (陸詩韻), Charmaine Li (李思欣), Jess Shum (沈卓盈), Francois Huynh (黃長發) and the three Miss Hong Kong winners, Kayi Cheung (張嘉兒), Grace Wong (王君馨) and Lorretta Chow (周美欣). Angela laughed that she seems to only win awards for playing ugly characters because she also won a TVB anniversary award for her portrayal of "Lee Siu Ho", another character not known for her good looks. When it was pointed out that her Betty character and her "Ah Ho" character both had goofy teeth, she revealed that when she was young, she liked to suck her thumb and she did this until she was fourteen, so it led to her teeth to naturally stick out. Fortunately, her mother forced her to have it corrected with braces. Asked what she will be doing over the festive season, Angela said that she will be spending Christmas alone this year because her good friend Margaret Chung (鍾麗淇) will be busy with a stage show and not have time to spend with her. Asked why she does not ask Margaret to introduce her to a boyfriend, she smiled that these things are better left to develop naturally. With reports that Eric Tsang (曾志偉) was taking advantage of her whilst playing games in the filming of The Super Trio Show <超級無敵獎門人> in Malaysia, when he stuffed some balloons up her t-shirt. Angela laughed that Eric is a joker and she was worried about the balloon bursting in her face, but pointed out that he did not touch her.
