Alan Tam Comments on Edison Chen + Justin Lo's Latest Scandals

Singers, Edison Chen and Justin Lo have been in the spotlight for scandals caused by their actions and words. Edison earlier made snide remarks on EEG artists causing EEG to take legal action against him while Justin has outraged the public by saying that he does not wish to perform at free shows because he is afraid that it may turn his songs 'bad'. As the 'principal' of Hong Kong's music industry, Alan Tam praised Edison for being sharp and straight forward but then expressed that Justin needs to go to class and be taught a lesson.

Alan Tam and over 20 singers attended the blessing ceremony for the Roadshow live music show. Alan was asked if he agreed with Edison that EEG's singer were 'stupid', to which he answered, "why would singers be stupid? (But Edison said EEG artists have 'no brains'!) Woah, that is sharp and straight forward! Then it is better to ask EEG singers themselves, how would I know how to answer you? Do you think I'm Eric Tsang?"

Alan then said, "Did Edison say Shawn has no brains? I think not, they are friends now. (Did you restore peace between them?) No, leave it up to the young ones."

On the other hand, last night's show was a free admittance show. On Saturday, Justin had publicly expressed that he did not wish to perform at too many free shows because he did not want his songs to become 'bad'. Regarding this, Alan commented, "Don't songs become better and better to listen to? This kid needs to attend some classes and be taught a lesson. He can ask me or Liu Xiang to be his mentor. Newcomers facing the media is like jumping hurdles, if you cannot past them, you will trip over. (How will you teach Justin?) Think carefully before speaking."

It always escapes me why Alan Tam is still around... I don't understand why he's so authoritative and "influential" in the show business...

I really think he should just retire =_=bbb

He is just a very respected personality in HK Music Industry.

Which is exactly what I don't understand...

What did he do to warrant that respect?

The HK people grew up with his songs. That makes him qualified for this job

I don't know, I never quite respect him as an authoritative figure since I was young, and I grew up in Hong Kong...

I guess I just have issues with superficial authorities...

I totally gave up on him when I watched him on tv. It was a live performance and he'd forgotten the lyrics to his own songs!! LOL

Would you be so kind of enlighten me of his achievements for being a "legend"?

I don't think he deserve anymore respect than any other singers considering he never manage to sing properly, after all these years no less.

well some of the thing that Alan Tam said
    are quite convincing
yeah he's been in this business for many years
so his words can be quite powerful
maybe i should ask him to take me as his disciple
    and make me a star

^ Again, example of whatever he says which is convincing?

Being in business in years does not necessary means he's any good at it...

Still don't understand what's the big deal with him... -huh

I think they made Alan a legend because of his achievements during the 80s. Well, since Anita Mui and Leslie Cheung passed away, he's the only left so I guess they kinda treasure him. But I never like him. He's so old but he said he would always maintain his look like 25. I don't like his songs either. Compare to Anita and Leslie, he sucks and so full of himself. I remember he even dared to name the new heavenly kings.

^ LOL, I share your sentiment.

I just have issues with superficial authoritative figures (with no reason for such authority)

He's untalented and boring, not to mention I despise those who cannot take themselves seriously enough to be honest with their age.

Again, what is he so LEGENDARY about? Being a terrible singer and have a unspeakable obsession about being in an authoritative position?

Everyone knows Paris Hilton, and Britney Spears for that matter, doesn't make them any more authoritative... So what makes?

He's like an institution whose principal love to hear himself talk WAY TOO MUCH. Yes, I agree on that.
