Jolin Tsai YiLin had a "disastrous" meeting with foreign (Canadian) entertainer Daniel Powter during the ceremony for the 19th Golden Melody Awards. The sudden kiss he planted on her cheek shocked her; the expression on her face made her appear alarmed. She said honestly that she had no idea of the kiss before it happened: "I guess we can say that foreigners are more enthusiastic!" Daniel Powter expressed-- with the help of some staff members-- that the kiss was his own "last minute" idea and that it was mostly for "effect." A kiss on the cheeks is soooooo nothing to be alarmed about, in the western word, this is only seen as a friendly gesture. But I guess to the chinese, its a big deal.
that is more common gesture in the west where we are more open about our sexuality and other things. I guess most asian countries haven't hit that level of openness yet
