Hi Everyone, iam expecting Twin Baby Boys this year, super excited expecting Double Dragons, but names giving me headache. So, i thought i come here and get some help & suggestions, so i need English name & Chinese name. Criteria is: 1. English name, something modern, sounds nice, not too chavy & maybe with some meaning. 2. Chinese name has Middle name 忠 (Chung, as in loyal heart) so it would be 忠 Something, hope you guys can help. -bigclap-bigclap
First of all; Congratulations!! And about the names; What do you think of the Chinese names 忠華 and 忠強 (like you said 忠, as in loyal heart and 華, mean as chinese or China and 強 mean strong. English names: Adam (maybe don't sound modern) means ;man of the earth and Lucas means; light
忠華 is very common and my sister name sounds very similiar, 忠強 is a name a thought off previously but dont like the ring to it. Iam liking 忠 天, as Loyal heart & Sky as it in unlimited thus no limits, but i cant think of a name to compliment for his brother. The English names iam after something more modern, something like Jayden, Kaden or Kailyn, but maybe with some meaning to it.
Well, for English names, nothing beats Kirk & Spock, LOL... Just kidding, of course. But seriously, what sounds nice in one culture may sound weird in another; just one look at Evergreen Mak and Power Chan would bear witness to that. I would suggest that you name them something relatively benign. First time parents (I'm being presumptuous here, but this question almost shouts "I'm a new parent" by the way that it's posed) are notorious for falling into the "it's gotta be something really special" naming trap simply because it's a new and special experience for them. That feeling fades with the passage of time. When your third or fourth comes along, you'll find yourself wanting to do like the old Chinese who just assigned them numbers according to their birth order, LOL... Here's a suggestion, imagine if an employee or trainee was introduced to you as your new subordinate; what kind of name of their's, would you find acceptable or deride as rather strange or pretentious. In this manner, you'll soon figure out how your kids might feel with what is essentially going to be their lifelong label. Do them a favor and don't do special; keep it normal instead. As adults, they will thank you for it.
Thanks for the advice, Power Chan classic HK name hahaha Yeh, we are 1st time parents, just dont want a common or "Normal" name, Also not to funky as Power Chan, but still sound normal if you know what i mean. If not may have to go down the route Ryu & Ken, Mario & Luigi, Sonic & Tails LOL
English names like Quincy (residence belonging to Quintus'), Terence (old form of the Roman family name Terrance), Ridley (the Red Plain), Beau (handsome, beautiful), Bailey (Governor), Evan (young warrior, well-born), Ernest (honest), Zachary (celebrated by God), Manuel (God be with us), Levi (combined), Julian (youthful), Noah (comfort), Walide (guard), Sidney (shortening of Saint Denis), Lorenzo (Italian word for bay leaf), Rhys (passionate) etc. I recommend you don't use Tails or Sonic (probably you like gaming, but don't use it.You're kid would be teased by others with does names) and Mario & Luigi are so ''normal'' names in Italy. In Italy everyones knows a Mario or a Luigi, that's so boring. Totally not modern.
Somehow, whenever I hear "Double Dragon" I can't help but think of the Two Lobster Special at the local Chinese eatery :kekekegay:
