They’re the most famous trainers in movie history, and now they can be yours.

Nike has created 1,500 (almost) exact replicas of the iconic, glowing shoe worn by Marty McFly - played by Michael J. Fox - in the 1989 film ‘Back to the Future II’.

Sadly, the 2011 Nike MAGs don’t feature laces that do up themselves, but they do include a LED panel and the electroluminescent Nike logo in the strap.

The shoes don’t come cheap. Nike are selling them on eBay, with bids for some models already at the £5,010 ($8,000) mark. They started at less than £1.

It’s all for a good cause though: the cash will go towards the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s disease research.

‘Back to the Future’ producer Rick Marshall has directed an advert, starring Bill Hader, NBA star Kevin Durant, and Doc Brown himself, Christopher Lloyd, to promote the auction, which started yesterday and runs until 18 September.

Fans of the film will remember that McFly wore the shoes on a visit to the year 2015, and the commercial hints that the trainers might go on general release then.

Even more intriguingly, it also teases that they could feature automatic laces - apparently Nike patented this technology last year.

Michael J. Fox, who will appear on the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ to promote the shoes, said: “This project is exciting to me because it brings together three very passionate audiences: the Parkinson’s community, the sneakerheads and ‘Back to the Future’ fans.”

Nike CEO Mark Parker said: “We wanted to translate the excitement people have for the ‘greatest shoe never made’ and for ‘Back to the Future’ into positive action. But the long term objective is to raise awareness so the Foundation can achieve their goal of eradicating Parkinson’s disease.

    Next up, a hoverboard?

The prices that they are going for and the limited release, they are definitely collectables never to worn items. Worth a lot more if you can get Michael j Fox to sign them.

Judging by the looks of this shoe, it almost seems like you are unable to move your ankle freely, I wouldn't no though cause i dont go 10k US to spend on a damn shoe. Prices will probably skyrocket once all of them are sold though, people of PA, LET US INVEST!
