Have you ever heard of people saying, white things get dirty easier? Well, in my opinion, it make no sense when they say that; despite the fact that I understand what they mean, but they should structure the sentence correctly to avoid controversy. -------------------------------------------------------- Example (scenario): Timmy wears a white t-shirt to play football in a muddy pitch, a muddy ball lands against the pristine looking white t-shirt, it is now evident that it is dirty. Conversely, Jimmy wears a black t-shirt to play football in a muddy pitch, a muddy ball lands against the dark black t-shirt, it is not as evident that it is dirty, but it is still in fact as dirty as the white t-shirt. (keeping all factors constant: area of the football, the force of the football when landing on the t-shirt.etc) --------------------------------------------------------- What do you think about it now, do you still think white things get dirty easily or is it the fact that it is more evident?
a) Because it is a debate whether people think white things get dirty easily than colours such as black. b) Those are examples only. I even stated, keeping all factors constant as I know people would be silly
It's a figure of speech. We all know the amount of dirt is equal regardless of the color. If you get dirt on your shirt, and your shirt is brown, it looks as if there's no dirt on it, which is why people say there's no dirt on it. Furthermore, using white cars as an example, If you throw dirt on a white car vs a dark car, you see the dirt more clearly on the white car as opposed to the dark car, and the perception of the clarity makes it SEEM like there's more dirt on the white car, which insinuates that the white car gets dirtier, despite having equal amount of dirt. However, I do understand what you're saying, and I totally agree.
Agreed, I think because white makes it mor visable people automatically asume that it gets more dirtier faster.
the other problem with white clothes is, the white start to turn brown especially around the collar area. So they look more worn faster.
If I were going to someplace where I was expecting to get dirty, then I would wear white. You can get white really dirty and then just wash and bleach everything off afterwards.

White clothing gets just as dirty as their counterparts. IT's just that a stain is more visible on a pair of white pants than on black..or a darker color.
depends how you see it, any colour can be dirtied easily, nowadays white is back as the more common colour.
My favorite t-shirt is a white v neck. It gets dirty so easily, I always see dark spots over my shirt when I just wear it outside for a few hours to school. So annoying.
