For the last six months, the Hong Kong recording industry recorded an all-time low. Yet, as the Canto-pop kings and queens have recently, on and off made their marks on their new stunner albums, the ebb is finally ebbing away. Even the super Canto-diva Sammi Cheng, who rested half a year for her body's sake, now storms back with her latest musical creations in 2003 and a retrospection of her musical brilliance on one astonishing CD set "Love Sammi"! "Love Sammi," a 36-track musical wonder, offers all music lovers 3 brand new tunes and 33 known-by-one-and-all gorgeous singles, ranging from her early works such as "Fondly Remember" (CD#2-Track 18) and "Where Am I In Your Heart?" (CD#2-Track 8), all the way up to the present ones, namely, "The Last Time I Cried" (CD#1-Track 5) and "Tell You The Truth" (CD#2-Track 17). Sammi's fans will definitely "Love Sammi" as they are about to float on cloud nine listening to the Canto-queen's musical jewels through the years. "Got Off Wrongly" (CD#1-Track 1), of which the story behind has been hot off the press, skyrocketed and became the No.1 hit in all Karaoke Box Bars right after its release. The new tune scores with a lingering rhythm, yet could have scored more if not for its somewhat tarnished music and lyrics. "Love Your Bed" (CD#1-Track 2), which was written by the present reviewer's favourite music composer Wang Wan Zhi, is the theme song of the movie "Love Your Bed". It is still worth listening to, though it is not as brilliant as "Really Hurt" which Wang wrote Jacky Cheung two years ago. As the name says for itself, "Fast New Song" (CD#2-Track 1) is a new up-tempo, on-an-average but a bit garrulous song. As for the 33 carefully chosen Sammi's previous works, every piece has simply been the top leading single & every piece has simply been one of the fans' all-time favourites. For example, "On The Heart Line" (CD#1-Track 4), "Infinitely Affectionate" (CD#1-Track 15), "Loath Giving You Up" (CD#1-Track 12), "Our Theme Song" (CD#2-Track 9) and "The Doctor and I" (CD#1-Track 14).
