hi again... i've finally decided to start burning some of chinese series onto DVD discs. yesterday i burned two copies using convertxtodvd and they came out perfectly fine. earlier today, i tried burning again, but this time my DVD player would not read it. i tried this twice, and both times i have failed. is there a problem with my DVD drive? it's like sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. i haven't burned in ages and when i did burn, it was only rarely. thanks in advance for any help.

This is kinda odd. Have you tried reinstalling VSO or getting the newest version?

Could be a bad dvd. Have you tried another blank dvd?

i've now tried five dvd discs and i know for sure they were all blanks.

i also found out something. those five discs that i failed, i could play it on my computer using powerdvd, but not on dvd players. i've tried all the dvd players in my house (i have 4) and i have tried my friends' dvd players as well.

Try to change TV Format from "Automatic" and forced it to "NTSC". Also, try at slower burn speed and try a different brand dvd.

Like cwazie mentioned, try to burn at the lowest speed to see if that makes a difference and make sure you try different brands of DVD medias as well. DVDs have different types of surfaces etc, so maybe your DVD player just does not like the current one.

I had similar issues with my Wii "backups". Usually lowering the speed or changing DVD medias solves the problem.

Trying another converter would be a good way to finding a solution. Try SUPER if you can't find WinAVI since its free.

are you using +R or -R?
if using +R, did you apply the booktype setting in Nero to change the +R to a -ROM because older dvd players have compatibility issues; -R has the highest compatibility

    1) Open Nero Burning Rom
    2) Look for the Choose Recorder option button
    3) Select (highlight) your DVD Writer(s) and click Options
    4) Change the Booktype Setting to DVD-ROM

yea i agree with noasian. from what u have described the problem lies with ur discs and perhaps ur dvd is incompatible with the discs. dvd-r does have a high compatibility but then i have a few dvd players which are incompatible with them. that's why i get dvd+r usually and then just booktype it to dvd-rom and then it plays fine on my dvd player. having said that if dvd-r worked previously for u then this could be a bad dvd burn or a problem with ur dvd-writer. try writing at different speeds. they have different effects usually. some speeds are more stable with some discs. good quality dvd media is also helpful.

r u using the same discs? if yes then either the format is on PAL which should be on NTSC, but as u said its always on NTSC, so it could possibly be the dvd's. I am not sure if there's a problem with the dvd-writer because successfully burning the dvd lessen's that chance no? I could be wrong
