So, I've been taking some of the anime on my HD, which are mostly in MKV, and extracting the subs and hardsubbing them as well as re-encoding them with the xvid codec instead of h264. Anyways, I've used XviD4PSP to do 4 episodes which came out great, then when I started on the 5th episode it didn't work. It would encode the video to about 70-80% and would say "xvid_encraw.exe has encountered a problem" I would press ok and it would then do the audio and the file would come out. When I played the file up to around 70-80% the video stops but the audio continues. No clue why, I've looked on their support forums and people have had similar problems and I have already tried the solutions posted. Since XviD4PSP failed me I went to Avidemux...It was worse, Avidemux would encode then suddenly just disappear and leave me with a 80-100 mb file that couldn't be played nor was it recognized as a video file. Has anyone had this kind of problem before? I'm looking at you 小小 ... lol
lol sorry haven't dropped by PA for a few days, have you solved this yet? Personally I haven't had any probelm but then again I haven't used XviD for years since I have a PS3, its been h264 + MP4 xD hmmm there isn't much to go on here and just to be clear is it just on the 5th episode? Does it work for other eps? (like have you tried re-encoding 4th or a 6th or the 5th again after restarting comp as may just be a glitch, etc, just to make sure its not xvid's problem). From what you are saying its seems more likely to be the video file's problem since it didn't work with the other apps so try rechecking if the CRC for the episode matches the one in the filename for the episode and we will go from there.
No worries, I should have PM'ed you instead lol. I haven't solved this in the sense that I still can't re-encode the file. I've tried the previous ones I've successfully re-encoded and they were fine. So, its definitely the file. I re-downloaded the episode from the original torrent and tried again. Same problem. I used AVI-Mux to see if the file is messed up or anything and it went through so I'm not sure whats wrong...
yeah lol looks like its the file try different presets in xvid4psp (under video encoding), if that fails mkv2vob (mainly app for PS3 but has option for XviD but loses styling of the subs) and if that fails handbrake Out of curosity what is the file, I can try to confirm whether its the file or stuff @ your end. Either pm me or post here, up to you ^^

lol mkv2vob isn't that just for the muxing of mkv files (i use it cause you can also convert the audio from dts to normal). anyways jelly maybe you can use another program to do the converting? the psp supports basically mp4 files or something right. use something like this? http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-Video-to-iPod-Converter.htm oh skimmed, lol realized that you were trying to convert hd files for psp? why do that lol.
Lol. Not for PSP. I was re-encoding, and hardsubbing them, so that I could burn it onto a dvd. There isn't a converter out there that supports .ASS/SSA subtitle fonts and effects yet.

Technically its a demuxer as it takes the takes the video/audio stream and remuxes into a vob -> http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/mkv2vob.cfm, plus I didn't say it was a muxer I said it was mainly a PS3 coverter app and is perfect for noobs and that of those that has alot of mkv files. Not sure what your trying to get @ but if your saying that its for muxing mkv's then its completely wrong. The reason i suggested it is becuz it can transcode to XviD in a .avi container (leave output file extension as auto and the XviD conveniently has also 360 support -> http://www.mkv2vob.com/showthread.php?tid=462) from a mkv which what the Jell wanted. I was hoping that this might help with Jell's problem with that file
This is extremely odd...I went on to encode FMA:Brotherhood. Same problem on the fifth episode but the sixth one and so on are fine...

i have the mkv one but its by [gg] fansubs. is that okay? i also forgot to ask you what format you wanted it in and what were your preferred video/audio encodings . xD i'll start encoding it to mp4 iphone/itouch and hope i get it right haha.
so you want the file in AVI hardware with those custom encodings? forgot to mention that the ep also already has subs in it.
If your converting it to DVD again then you don't need to select hardware and to save you time I suggest only use 2 pass if your trying to reach a specfic filesize (2 pass won't give higher quality than one pass), other than that its not entirely necessary since your gunna reconvert it anyway =p. Have you tried the stuff I mentioned before (mkv2vob and selecting different presets) and maybe trying renaming the file your trying to convert to something short + simple and also make sure you don't have any conflicting codecs, having only CCCP is sufficient.
anyway i'm almost done encoding the ep as instructed by the tutorial and will upload it later tonight. MU? hopefully i encoded it right
I've already tried renaming the file, didn't work. I think I have klite for my codecs. This is extremely odd...it doesn't work on the fifth episode only... EDIT: I just tried mkv2vob. It encoded about 1 min and 30 sec of the video but it worked...of course, like you said it didn't get the fonts right.
