    seriousely, no point to move to ddr3 with that cpu, the ddr3 gives you a 10-15% increase in the speed; i would suggest you going into the ddr2 boards and ram with that cpu; u are wasting ur money on ddr3s at the moment;

    core i7 with DDR3? 4G Kit(2x2G) DDR3 1333 G.Skill PI cost 92 and G.Skill-PI 4GB Kit (2x2G) DDR2 1066 cost 95 or G.Skill-PI 4GB Kit (2x2G) DDR2 1100 cost 105.

    which is cheaper to get DDR3 ram over DDR2 ram.

    im still think which graphic card. 896M GTX 260 or 1GB 4870, both same price.

    DDR2 is cheaper but slower.

    Graphics card wise, I'd say go for the ATI. I'll let the benchmark scores explain why

    since when did u need a pimped out rig to oc? isn't that the point of oc? so u don't have to pay out the ass for the $$$$ parts? :nuts:

    planning to change my build a bit. As i mostly do gaming and watch video on this computer. so i'm thinking of getting a AMD over the intel. so what you guys think?

    x4 Phenom II 955
    GA MA790XT-UD4P
    4G Kit(2x2G) DDR3 1333 G.Skill PI
    1GB ASUS 4870
    Antec 902

    price diff between main post and this one is $1

    AMD does not make better "gaming" processors... processors that benefit gaming the most at this point in time is whichever has the highest clock rate... that's why it's pointless to pay out the ass for a quad core anything if you're mainly building a gaming rig... quad cores generally have lower clock rates on a similarly priced dual core...

    AMD used to be the gaming processor of choice because they stuck with single cores longer than Intel, so not only were they faster for gaming, but also cheaper...

    well this is my rig in pounds
    core i7 920 - 140
    ocz 3x2gb cards - 90
    hd4890 - 158
    gigabyte ga-ex-ud5 - 142
    850w psu - 90
    1tb hdd - 77
    xclio windtunnel - 60
    adds up to 757 quid

    i wanted to spend 700 but 57 more aint that bad considering what i got....aaaaannnnd...if money becomes a problem for me i can sell it for profit.

    @Aoes
    it depends what you consider pimped out, i agree my rig is high end but i got it for reasonable price i think. and a overlocked 920 owns everything.
    plus i dont just use it for gaming, i use it for encoding, rendering etc.

    By any standards, it's still not high end.

    intel & nvidia since most games are made for nvidia;
    intel has way more cache & substainable to heat

    G.Skill PI 4GB Kit (2x2G) DDR3 1333 - cost $92

    ASUS P5Q3 DDR3
    Q9550
    G.Skill PI 4GB Kit (2x2G) DDR3 1333
