His birth name is Chan Yik-Shun, but he started using the name, Eason Chan after he hit stardom. The Cantopop (short for Cantonese popular music) is a guitar, violin and piano player, as well as a singer and songwriter. He spent part of his childhood in London after moving there at the age of 12. He attended college at the University of Kingston, where he was studied in architecture. Veering far from the path that his father had wished for him, Chan returned to Hong Kong when he was 21 in the summer of 1995 and experienced a twist of fate. Eason Chan decided to compete in a talent show on TVB, a popular television network in Hong Kong. The vocalist won the talent show. He became an overnight phenomenon when Capital Artists signed him on after he won the competition. In 1995, the young star began to live out his singing dreams by working on his debut album called, Chan Yik-Shun, released in 1996 with Capital Artists. His more popular disc, Eason Chan’s Happy Days, was released under Capital Artists in 1998. When he took up films in the late 90s, Chan had been cast on the set of numerous Chinese comedies, and has continued to appear in an impressive slew of films since then. Many times, the actor would take up roles in romantic comedies such as Bolei Chi Sing (1999), Tiramisu (2002), and the more recent, Hooked on You (2007) and Trivial Matters (2008). The film industry was beneficial to his music career. Eason Chan worked hard to become successful. His father Chan Kau Tai worried about his son’s future. In 1995, the father and son made a deal, if Eason Chan did not succeed in music within three years he would go back to school. Chan proved his doubtful father wrong and has never looked back. Unfortunately, in 2006, Chan’s father, who was Eason’s manager at one time, was sent to prison for charges of corruption, and he also became ill with liver cancer. Saddened by the events and unable to fully share his own victories with his father, Eason refused to publicly speak about his dad thereafter as an attempt to preserve his dignity. Luckily, Eason could fall back on his career as a focal point. When he wasn’t churning out albums, he was doing a new film or hitting the road on one of his world tours. People have enjoyed Chan’s humorous and wild stage presence, as he lights up arenas doing funny things. In addition to his humorous stage antics , he is renowned for showing up on stage wearing eccentric costumes and hats. Chan’s efforts haven’t gone unrewarded. In 2006 and 2007, he won the award for Hong Kong’s Most Popular Male Singer and was the best-selling artist of 2002, 2003 and 2007. For 2008, the musician came close to winning the equivalent of the Grammy Awards in Taiwan, known as Taiwan’s Golden Melody Award, but lost to Jacky Chueng, one of his buddies in the industry, in contention for the Best Male Mandarin Singer trophy. Chan launched his 2008 Moving On Stage tour, highly-inspired by Madonna’s action-packed shows, which debuted in February. Getting in touch with his Mandopop side, Chan released the Mandarin album Don’t Want to Let Go in June 2008 via Cinepoly, a division of Universal Music Hong Kong. For the Beijing Summer Olympics, Chan was featured in a welcoming video, filled with all the popular stars in the Chinese community. By full discography I mean that this time it has everything (from albums to EPs and live concerts) and i'm sure I haven't missed out anything. I was meant to post this 2 years ago before I disappeared but then got really busy and since I came back last week and at the mo Im kinda free, I decided to finish off what I started and I might disappear soon too after this so you won't see any new threads from me in the download section for a while (I got job interviews in a few weeks and if i'm successful I'm going to move house) And yes no post restriction (aren't some of you happy) the reason is what I mentioned above as I be inactive again soon I swear Eason pawns other artists in terms of new and best but thats probably cuz of he kept on switching music labels (or that EEG loves to rip off its fans, note sound and sight and best era). I decided not to remove out the repeat tracks like I did for sammy and upped the whole of the new and bests cuz for one it serves as a reup for those albums and for two which is the most important reason ---> laziness. You should grab the 2nd version of H3M which was released last week and maybe Admit it 2nd version live (another album that I didn't get to upping before I disappeared =p). Oh and also I don't want to let go which was released last year, I searched the forums and couldn't find this too but I'm aware that many of my old posts and others were disappeared during a forum update (I think) when I did some searching around a few days back, so it may have been posted, enlighten me .......
