Lost Korean martial arts cinema

    Long forgotten are the martial arts movies made in korea during the 70's and early 80's. hardly any exsit on dvd :(

    hmm.. well there was 'fighter in the wind'.. but if you meant those 70s, 80s.. most are forgotten.. doesnt limit to korean.. are they good? never watched them b4

    ive seen korean martial arts before
    1 last year
    and onther one before that

    i think it started with G...
    and the other one was in the olden times

    they still exist

    I think the movie with a "G' you are referring to is Geochilmaru. it wasnt a bad movie. made more like a documentary or reality tv.

    Hi,

    One classic old schooled korean martial art film that did get a good quality DVD release was
    Korean Connection. Excellent action with Hwang Jang Lee and Kwon Young Moon.

    The Korean Movie Data base has some very rare titles listed.

    i dont think i heard of korean martial art movies ever.. lol maybe you guys have a few good ones. but when ppl think about kung fu they all think about bruce lee and jackie chan or chinese stuff. Not korean though.

    Exactly. Taekwondo is world famous; how come their action movies don't even come close to movies made by Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan or Jet Li?
     
  10. thats cuz korean cinema hasn't really picked up until the last 10 years due to economic reasons and now that it has.. koreans can make really good movies, check hallyu wave.

    Koreans still don't have what it takes to make great martial arts movies, the choreography is good in a few films but overall it's still not as good as some other international countries who have pretty much master this type of genre.
