Jay Chou rejects the role as Bruce Lee Owing to tight schedule, Taiwanese pop idol Jay Chou had to decline offer to cast as his own idol, Bruce Lee, in Wong Kar Wai's movie "The Grand Master". Besides Wong's proposal, Wilson Yip, director of "Ip Man 2" has also specifically named Chou to take on the role as Bruce Lee in his movie; Chou's company JVR Music however commented that they have yet to received Yip's invite. Chou's heavy involvement as director and male lead actor in his own sci-fi drama production "Panda Heroes" formed part of the reason why he could not take on Wong's movie. On the drama's press conference held in Taipei on Tuesday, he announced that several young artistes from Greater China would be casting in the drama, including his rumored girlfriend Jessie Jiang. "The female lead from Taiwan was decided internally. For China, I think Zhou Xun most fit the bill but she is too popular. A new face with long hair and big eyes is more manageable," he said.
bad choice indeed .. the guy looks like an ass .. ruin the "bruce lee" image if he's casted cuz he's so GAY. thank god.
no fucking way....seriously he can't even speak proper cantonese to be in a canto movie. and he doesn't have the acting chops or kung fu background.
i guess he has the hair style for bruce lee a ickle bit and mebe need to trim it a bit more i think he rejected the role himself coz he knows he wont be good in it either....so his -smart and not just taking any jobs thas offered to him...
well before u guys throw a punch at me, my gues is Ip Man 2 will be still focusing on ip man and casting jay chou aint bad cos its still bruce in his early years, still have to learn wing chung arts, and casting someone who doenst know aint a bad idea right? looks can be changed, voice can be dubbed as long its perfectly done and i dont think the young bruce will have alots of dialogue, i mean its still a donnie yen film
no matter how you cut it, you can't get a non-HKer to do Bruce Lee. It just can't be done. They have to be cantonese. They have to be able to fight. They have to have the look. 陳國坤 is the ONLY ONE that could do it right now.

ye can't get jay chou to act as bruce lee, he hasn't got any martial arts experience to portray such a character who is so good at martial arts. would just be a bit of an insult.
Bruce Lee is such a big name, if you cast someone who doesnt know martial arts and have the background, you're gonna be ruining the image. so good choice that Jay said no.
i also agree, 陳國坤 is the best candidate in my opinion. I already thought he resembled bruce lee in shaolin soccer, and that was when i was still in 6th grade =P
