Gosh times are bad and tempers are certainly getting shorter.

Seems like alot of folks around me are constantly in a foul mood.

Have friends that got fired from their job... is there any ways to cheer them up ?

    Anyone have any ideas ?

    Let's hear some !

    Thanks.

Just have a night out with the group of friends, the best thing to do is to let him know he has friends that will support him all the way into finding a new job

As long as their moods don't include being nasty towards you, it's normal to feel gray in those siuations. My best advice is to listen to them vent their feelings and be supportive.

I agree be supportive and let them have their space, only they can dig out of their rut, you can only provide a gentle push.

yup, don't flaunt your money, but don't hide your job. Cause they are probebly happy for you that you still standing.

Be supportive, and let them vent if they need to. Be a good friend and listen.

Obama ain't doing SHIT .. don't go there with that ...

Anyway, what we need is not more patience but more $$$$$$$$$$$$? Everything will solve itself if we have more money ... the same with your friends. My best advice is to help them out with job hunting. I hate and again, I HATE those who said that they will keep an eye out for you for job and never did .. I don't need such fucking friends. If you can't do it, then don't say anything at all. Don't try to act nice and kind when you don't even mean it. A night out or drink won't help; just a waste of money and doesn't solve anything. Referral, connections, and stuffs are the best things to do for unemployed friends in need.

I think I am having trouble keeping my job too...

And the bosses themselves are fearful... cos they could get the shinny axe too.

I think at such times, there is a need to kinda set up some kind of support group. Cos alot of them are prideful and not speaking up but goes into the angst-rage-depression cycle.. Hell, if I am axed, I would probably be reacting the same way.

There is a need for the media and ourselves to bring up these problems ourselves. But the media we have now are all about how bad the figures are, that there are more homeless folks and sufferers.

People need people. And yes, I do try my part, but hell I am spending more time pretending to work when there is NOTHING to be done at the workplace, which is why I can afford to spend some time in this forum and others.

Yeah sugar but you know it hard for me not to expect any nasty words from them. Their usual reply would be "Right, If you are the one being fired, you won't be chirping away and giving me Bull now"...

Did try to get a few of my friends to set up an informal group to look for opportunities and see if there are any low cost business that they can combine their resources to do. It does help alot.

Well its hard sometimes. They don't even pick up their phones.

Just read the unemployment figures. Its scary..

Ah, well said. We have to follow thru our promises to reach out. Lip service is just going to drive them nuts.

    Cheers everyone :)

knock the guy out with a wad of hundred dollar bills, then gently rest your testicles on his forehead and get a friend to take a picture.

then you can distribute the photo around the internet.

    shit will be cash.

Treat your friends to a karaoke and have them sing, sing, and sing. Hope that this can relieve their stress by singing it out loud.
