McDonald's admits 1,000 people paid to join queue for Quarter Pounder debut in Osaka OSAKA — Around 1,000 people were paid to join the queue outside the Midosuji-Suomachi branch of McDonald’s for the release of their Quarter Pounder burger in the Kansai area on Tuesday, it was learned on Thursday. The company has admitted to the fact that around 1,000 people who lined up on Tuesday were compensated, but claims they only made a request for consumer feedback to one of their marketing companies. There are suspicions however that the people were employed to help promote the new product, serving a role known as “sakura” in Japanese. It is estimated that as many as 2,000 people were lining up outside the McDonald’s store at its peak on Tuesday, and that around 15,000 people in total visited the store during the day, setting a new record for daily sales for one of their stores. But it was learned on Thursday that about 1,000 of the people queuing outside were paid an hourly wage of 1,000 yen and also had their purchase paid for. These people were hired by a human resources company at the request of a marketing company commissioned by McDonald’s Japan. A McDonald’s Japan spokesman said: “We wanted to know how the service and product quality were on the first day. We didn’t know 1,000 people had been sent to the store.”
it's kind of interesting how every mcdonald's in each country has their own version of things. in china there are taro pies!
its odd....ive never been much of a fan of mc dong dong's big macs..... i prefer the mc.chicken sandwich more..or chicken nuggets...
This was just a limited time burger but it became soooo popular that they added it to the main menu. its making me want a Mac D right now but its to cold outside to go.
lol, if i ordered that..... i'd halve it lol, eat the top part then eat the bottom :laugh2: no way can i open my mouth that big........or i can try :sp_ike_d:
you know them massive ridiculous burgers, i ordered one and its not very practical, i had to take half the beef out and squeeze it like my life depended on it before i could fit the thing in my mouth, then after that i was full with half a slab of beef left on my plate >.< ill stick to the normal burgers from now on
I want that ssssssooooooooo bad. I rarely eat at McD cause the burgers are so small. I like Burger King better cause the patties are so BIG, lol.
ooh mega mac. who cares about the 1/4 pounder. But it's ok, i can just order two 3/4 Pounders here and it'd bigger than the mega mac ^__^
