    Hi guys,

I’ll be going to HK in a couple of days, and I’m thinking of getting an iPod Touch, new Earphones and a new mobile. I’ve currently got an iPod Nano 3rd Gen 8GB, and thinking of also getting a Touch for my travels to and from school next year. Is it worth it? I’ll be using it for podcasts, movies and music, and the occasional application. I’ve been reading about some cool apps.. like a PDF reader. I was originally thinking of getting the 16 GB model, but the Aus. currency vs. HK currency has gone down a lot, and my current 8 GB Nano is only half full with music only, so would 16 GB be too much? How many MB’s do apps use?

Earphones: My Creative EP 630’s recently broke and they no longer sell them here. So.. I’m looking at a potential upgrade, or something similarly priced from $0 to around $100 AUD.. Or say up to the UE Super Fi Studio 3 or Shure SE 110’s. Any recommendations, Preferably looking at in-ears noise isolating or cancelling.. Not too bassy though and stays in the ears (unlike my previous Creative Aurvana’s which would fall out quite easily).. I’m not too sure about wearing over the ears.. Like is it comfortable?

I’m also looking at getting a new mobile.. My one right now is a really old one. Works and all, but its from some unknown company and I’m starting to get sick with the interface. Any recommendations? Not really looking for a Music phone.. I guess the functionality is decent.. camera, video recording.. like so called "standard features?" (considering most phones in HK would have this feature).. I don’t know much about phones.. I’ve really only used Nokia, and I don’t need a PDA sort of phone, or even an iPhone (or touchscreen, unless it’s a really good one)

Part of deciding on what to get will depend on the prices of them when I get to HK.. I’m hoping to take advantage of the financial crisis and hope there are sales when I get there.. OH and also, I’m going to Japan –Would it be worthwhile to check out prices there too? (The exchange rate is pretty terrible though)

Thanks in advance :D. Look forward to hearing your recommendations

My friend just came back from Japan and the prices there aren't too flashy, so don't expect to get everything from there. Plus the phones there can't be used outside can it?

    Ipod Touch 16GB is around $HK 2400

the mb on apps really depends.. on what kind of app and if your going to jail break it (which is impossible with 2nd gen ipod touch) 8gb or 16gb is your choice..

That's the RRP on the Apple's website, Would you guys recommend me looking for bargains at Wan Chai and Mong Kok? With Japan, I checked the Apple site, and its like 100 AUD more lol. Maybe due to the weak aus vs jpn exchange rate (last year it was like 1 to 100, now its like 1 to 60).. And I don't fully understand this dual band or whatever it is - Anyone clarify what it means?

The JB for 2 Gen won't be coming in the near future, well at least that what's I've been reading about it. I dunno if I should get the 1st gen then.. But the 2nd gen has the speaker, volume controls, faster processor. What would be the max MB for an app?

Any specific recommendations? The sennheiser are pretty much the same as the Creative EP 630's.. I found them too bassy for my liking though.

In mobile phones, dual band (also known as dual-band or dualband) refers to functionality that allows a cellphone to support two frequency bands. Having more than one frequency in one device is useful to enable roaming between different countries that peg the allowed transmission frequency at different values or to allow a better coverage in the same country.

    Falls into 2G and 3G
