Hi, I wana set up a wireless network on my laptop and need my WEP key which im sure i had, but i cant find it. Is there any way i can find my WEP key on my desktop or something which is already setup.

Its not on my router and i've tried finding it in my network files but it doesnt show. I've got windows XP. Any help would be great!

    Thanks

Reset your router i.e. unplug the power for more then a minute and this will erase all data stored in it. Then, set it up again like it was the first time.

I have a Linksys wireless router, and i've done that on all 5 computers at home ( 2000, XP, Vista)

    give it a try ;)

Like what gordonng85 said but I prefer hitting the reset button on the back rather than unplugging. Works the same.
I have a linksys and I have to enter the router setup page to find it.

If you say its already setup on your desktop (as in desktop configured with wireless internet), fire up this tool:Wirelesskeyview
    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_key.html
Also, you sure its not stored in the router, as it should be.

  5. either you haven't set your wep encryption yet (would explain why you wont have it in your router)

    or

if you did set it up already, like knoc said, log into your router, and look for it

all WEP key should be stored in the router security settings.
you can get when u access the router.
Unless ur trying to enter someone's router to gain access, we cant help u with that.

wep key is store din modem under wireless settings :) the password isn't the stars and actually says the password. or if u can log into the modem u can just put in another password that u can remember.
if not on the back of the modem has a hole for a pin... stick in a pin and hold in once the lights at the front all flash means u've restarted the modem. and reinput all the details again :)

    Start -> run -> cmd

    write: ipconfig

u'll get ur default gateway ip. use that ip on a internet browser to get into ur router to find the settings.

hope you don't live in a crowded area... like apartment blocks.. cause WEP is sooo breakable...
too bad the DS don't support WPA...

u gotta reset the modem in order to recover your wep key because when u set your router, your able to login to the control panel and that is where u set the stuff

no there is an IT pro app called System Info Gabriel Topala, under the Software List, click Secret, it will show your WEP key within seconds, no need to reset router and re-config everything...

this app will even give you the license keys of software you have installed on your PC
