the only problem i have with sony is that their laptops are overpriced, but they are also good products, so if you are willin to spend a bit extra dough, its no big deal. I would look for comparable laptops from Toshiba to do a comparison first though.
hp pavilion is pretty nice, i have one myself lol...but i don't really like the piano black finish cause that's a fingerprint magnet and also i dunno if they have glossy touchpads now, but mines (bought it like 1.5 years back) had a glossy touchpad and it's annoying. also one more thing, back then when people bought the hp they were pretty picky on the screens, like some are ultra dark and some are very bright because hp laptops have different screen manufactures. I've actually had a first had experience with the different screens, the first hp i got had a bad manufacture and the screen was ultra dark, but i guess it's lucky that they laptop was malfunctioning so i returned it and they gave me one with a screen made by Lg. and the max brightness was heaps better than anything the previous one can achieve. so to the OP i guess if you really want to buy laptops you gotta research more. same with the sony's...
well ye they are usually overpriced but if u go onto play.com if ur in the UK they seem to have some ridiculously gd deals with sony laptops and they can be pretty cheap and well worth it. i have a hp and my screen is normal. lol. hps are pretty gd i think as well.
Definately true, i need to research more. You all got it right that sony's are pretty overpriced and for the price of sony laptop you can buy a better one of another brand with better specs. I got now a 3 year old vaio and i just adore the style Thats actually wyhy i want a vaio haha (A) And i gotta say the CR version is pretty nice, the look then And as someone mentioned above this CR version is good enough voor not too intensive games. The problem is now still as you all mentioned, to get another brand with better specs The vaio cr35 is in HK 11000 hkd thats around 930 euro's in Holland You got any laptops from toshiba;'s dell or w/e from Hong kong for me which are worth 11000 hkd? Any laptop which is recommend for that price?

Ooh haha Well damn man thats cheap Only the videocard is not that well i think.. but dell1530 is also pretty nice for about 12000 hkd thats 1000 euros i got pretty nice specs hmmph.... pfff hard to choose.. But this is on the internet i will be this summer for about 10 days in Hong Kong and i gotta show it to my granddad dunno if they got it in stock within those 10 days.. If ya buy Sony Vaio's just be aware that ya will get lotta bloatware, which will seriously slow down yar machine. So ya need to reinstall all da things to get the machine up to speed -bigsmile
lots of super crap software that you will never use is loaded up into your sony vaio laptop.. i owned one.. and hard to freakin remove the stupid softwares... easy way is to do a clean reinstall....
Sony laptops are over hyped, over priced and poorly designed. Their laptops are designed so that if hardware goes bad you have no choice but to send it to them to fix.
The warranty is indeed a problem but as i said if ur granddad give u the oppertunity to buy a laptop and He WANTS to see it... then buying in HK is the most logical But worldwide warranty how much more is that then .... I already got 3 years a vaio and its pretty solid Hopefully it will stay solid with the new ones (A) Anyway as mentioned the Dell 1530 is indeed pretty nice and not that expensive i mean its within my max budget... but still... hard to choose hmm i mean if the CR got a lil better Videocard i reallly had choosed the CR35! But if only the videocard is my problem then, should i totally change my choice? pff And i really need to buy a laptop in HONG KONG itself.
i do believe fortress offers worldwide warranty i think so that will work for u. yes i do agree that sony do have weird stuff, i mean i have an mp3 from sony and i have to use sonicstage to put songs on and can't just do wat i would do with normal mp3s and just put the music on the removable drive. it kind of changes the files and like theres all sorts of ordering of the files. its pretty weird.
