http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SP-021-LG is it good, im thinking of upgrading from my Logitech X-540, main issue is the length of the cable connecting the control pod to the sub as i will have to put the huge sub in the corner of my room.
that's pretty expensive.. i think i've tried it before in a store.. and sounds pretty good.. not bad at all for sounds
I don't know how far you want to place the sub but I do know that you can extend the cord using a 15 pin vga cable. Only 15 pins will work from what I understand. Get a quality 15 pin vga cable and your good. You'll most likely hear a bit of static though. It does come with a remote but I understand if you want the CP on ur desk. It looks nice. Mine is right under my desk. Best directional quality. Unless you had a pair I wouldn't suggest your layout.
nah im from England, thats not a lot of money, were used to paying stupid prices for everythng >.< rip-off Britain ftw. Great you got one, yeah i heard about the cable, ill probably have to find a 15 pin though. doesn't your sub have to be a couple feet away from all electrical devices?, that's why i cant put it under my desk, if i could the air coming from those subs would be awesome. yeah the CP gota go on my desk
Because of the magnet? I don't know but my sub is about 8 inches away from my pc parts and all seems fine. My keyboard which is no more than a foot away drains quickly though and I'm thinking it may have something to do with the kicker. Mouse is a bit further away so no problem there. As you can imagine my desk is compact and low to the ground. Not a typical one.
yes i think it says two feet so bout 24 inches, i may be effecting your keyboard, but im gona put in the corner cus i cant afford for anything to go wrong >.< ill look at them but im not spending over £200, i expect these speakers to last the rest of my life tbh
those speakers certainly look gd, sound quality i can't comment on cos i don't have that model but i have a logitech subwoofer with speakers that are a few years old and they are pretty gd.
isn't X-540 good enough already?? I have one....it's really good. No complaints at all! lol the Z5500 costs so much more though...
these are very good speakers.. i was gonnna get a set but the price was a little bit too much and i realize i dont have the space for it.... quality is mad nice
Im taking you're referring to the Pro Media Ultra Series. (Forget about the GMX). I've got a set of Z5500's myself and i haven't had a issue with it besides the fuse blowing on me. Quality is very reasonable for computer speakers / small home theatre, bass is nice and touch. The control pod is sexy, remote comes quite handy. Great set of speakers imo.
I have a set of Z-5500. Check out the "Post picture of your room" thread, I have it posted there. As far as sound is concerned, they are excellent COMPUTER speakers. If you're looking for something that's excellent for music and nothing else, I would suggest a set of Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers. The Z-5500 are designed and sold as a set of affordable and user friendly set of speakers mainly for gaming and movies. Build quality on these are quite good, haven't had any problems with my set. One of the satellites was knocked down and it still survived. As far as features are concerted, yes it does support digital optical AND digital coaxial as well as your standard 3.5mm analogue jack. Keep your system in mind while you connect your system. Using a digital connection might not be the best route if you have an after market soundcard because this force the Z-5500 to perform the Digital to Analogue Conversion (DAC). Back to my initial point about how it's a good set of computer speakers. What I mean by this is that you can go a better but more expensive route buying dedicated speakers with a receiver for a full blown hi-fi setup. I have my Z-5500 paired with the Creative X-Fi Elite Pro and even though these speakers weren't designed for music, they sound great. The mids and lows are excellent and it requires a bit of equalizer work to get the highs in. Even with the standard cables (the satellites use normal speaker cables), the bass hits very strong and very cleanly. Proper setup is a must for both software and positioning of the speakers. Few things to keep in mind: - The subwoofer is large and produces a magnetic field. - The satellites ARE shielded but the sub IS NOT. - Make sure you have room for the sub. (It's 13" x 14" x 12" [Width x Depth x Height]) - Make sure you can have it away from magnetically sensitive equipment such as computers, monitors, etc.
Yeh this is a good sound system set. i got it for around AU$400 if i remembered right. i got it hooked up to my PC + LCD TV + dvd player all at once. not many PC sound system can hook up so many things together. Sound is good but sometime i find the bass for music a bit weak. PRO: - good sound - got digital input (COAX, Optical) - remote (for the lazy me) - nice big sub CON: - bass a bit weak for music but its good depending on the music source - sub with a big magnet. (in the manual it told me not to put any Electnic too close because the magnet may damage the equpment.) This is a really good sound system i highly recommand it.
The Z-5300 are decent speakers but I would recommend you stretch the budget a bit and go for a set of Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. Bass is a bit weak? You have to be joking. I tried turing the bass up and it was way too much. How do you have your sub positioned? Position is everything when it comes to subwoofers. Try putting it in the corner of the room.
lol you really favor those promedias huh? thing is tho.. they're not too slick looking.. hahaha that's why I'm thinking z-5300e or z-2300... I think the 5300e look better than the 5500.. but uhh.. yea... I can't decide.. -lol
-lol Fearless has a very legitimate point. I prefer the ProMedias because they sound so much better than any Logitech speaker out there. Keep in mind the protective screen on the ProMedia be removed to reveal the drivers. Very cool looking without the screens.
hahah still kinda blocky.. how bout the Altec Lansing FX4021 2.1? they bump? I think Im narrowing it down to z-2300 or FX4021... The FXs should be alright for average listeners right?
