Invalid Win32 Trojan!! (FIXED) Alright.. so I scanned with online scanner (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) and it detected a TROJ_ZEROML.HA. So I'm pretty sure it's a trojan, plus I checked my email today.. and it tried to send out emails to I dunno how many pple.. >.<. Reason I know was because some of the emails didn't go through.. And the worst part is that I cannot get AVG to install... and I can't open up my Norton Internet Security because I always get the not a valid win32 application. I can't even install Hijackthis.. =/ What should I do?? -cry2 FIX: Solution for what I did to get rid of the trojan/virus... 1. Download ComboFix online, when it asks you save location, make sure you rename the ComboFix.exe to a random name. Follow guide here (http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=61850&st=20) 2. Now that will probably fix up the major problems and allow you to install your anti-viruses. However do an online scan first anyone websites that offer scanning and cleaning of viruses online. 3. You should be pretty much in the clear by now if you can install your anti-viruses and delete the remaing trojans. However, if you were like me and had Norton Internet Security you will need to get the Norton Removal Tool (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039) to completely wipe out Norton as it is rendered useless by now. Afterwards everything should be fine. No system Restore! and especially NO FORMATTING required!! I went through all the hassle of looking for answers and I'm glad it paid off... I wanna thank others who've made very helpful comments. Thank You!
go into windows using the safety feature... and try to scan for virii again... and if u have a startup disk of virus defintion from ur norton... u can scan ur hd for virus when u start up ur computer
Thing is.. I just don't think the online scan is working out.. I guess I can try it in safemode... and I don't have a startup disc.. where could I look for that?
No.. I haven't tried others.. but I'm thinking if I can't get AVG or Hijackthis to work.. then I dun think nothin will work.. =( thing is.. I got too many files to backup.. So I am definitely not trying to go the system re-install route..
lol stop surfing pr0n ecko all jokes aside, you shouldnt need the recovery cd atm. what norton says to do is to update, reboot, unplug internet cable, safemode, scan. if that doesnt work, and worst comes to worst, start backing up, and reformat =( and just reading your msg above, how many is many?
I can't start up Norton!! Nor can I install AVG.. I always get the not valid win32.. in normal and safemode.. I think Ditzy might be onto something here with the Emergency/Rescue disk.. found info here (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/ppfdocs/2002102115095448) Problem is tho.. would I need to install anit-virus in order to create the disk? And if so.. what I can install it, but program won't run!? Hmm.. nevermind.. I don't think the disk will work either cause they're not made for vista?? Can I get a confirm on this?
damn man what version norton you have....i thought you had a pretty new comp, get fucked up soo fast. and yea your last resort is backing up and reformatting ( i dunno how to fix this situation any other way).
just the internet security that came with the comp. Computers a bit more stable now that I tried to have the online scanner from trend micro to attempt to remove the trojan. But I just can't get other antiviruses to run.. I'm gonna try the NOD32.. hopefully it will install and run..
u can buy a storage book for ur files and reinstall vista =P... if u can run ur antivirus program.. whatever u have ... i think it was norton.. u can create a file disk to run when u boot... as long as u have uptodate virus definition... have u tried running spyware programs? The best virus scanner is kaspersky.. it detects more virii and spywares than any other programs... (It was on a article comparing other anti virus programs.) P.S. I don't really trust online virus scanners since its "not really" built into ur system..
i didn't see this ecko, ermm ye try nod32 otherwise disconnect ur internet and try to close the process down if possible. if u can't install nod32 there is like an online scanner for it try and use that. so when did this happen. today? if worst comes to worst then u will have to backup and reformat. though u could try system restore. not too sure whether that will work though.
try click on start, all programs accessories, system tools then system restore and then click back to the date when your pc was working fine... dont know if it helps doe but thats how i just fixed up mine...
yeh but i bet its about 1000 times more intrusive... i ran with AVAST AV a while back cause i read it has a better detection rate than AVG. And im not suprised, the dam AV has separate running processes to monitor email, web browser, p2p, general shield, etc, etc.....
Find where the trojan is and use "Unlocker" to delete it. Xoftspy is a good cleaning program, too. Unlocker: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/index.htm Xoftspy: http://rapidshare.com/files/82869417/Xoftspy433273.rar And google the trojans name and find out if there are other files associated with it and delete those too.
No Reformat!!! I'm NOT GIVING INTO THOSE DAMN HACKERS SO EASILY!! I've tried the system restore.. does not work.. I'm pretty sure it's not running any processes.. all of them looks pretty legit.. could be something in registry.. but not sure..
restore doesn't work on hardcore viruses im tellin u! it's easier, faster, if you just save all ur valuables, music/photos/movies etc, onto an external harddrive which'll only take u like 6-8 hours when you're sleeping, and then reformat! for a super clean computer
