Toshiba Announces Discontinuation of HD DVD Businesses

    another reason is that they wanted to keep the xbox cheaper than the ps3.

    i'm glad that its over and now certain movies can finally be released in high definition.

    And release it earlier, which helped them a lot. Microsoft don't care about HD dvd. The only care for themselves :p

    i know and also the 360 will be inferior to the ps3 as the blu ray drive will allow it to play blu-ray games which can contain much more data than dvds, which will mean better graphics etc. so the 360 i guess is at a losing battle now.

    If MS had put HD DVD as standard, how many people in the world would already have a hd-dvd player ready and who do you thing the big studios would be supporting
    One of the big reasons blu ray did so well is because of the ps3

    i think MS were a bit short sighted. They released the 360 way too early, i mean the over heating issues and rings of death should all have been taken care of before the thing even hit the shelves...

    oh and Toshiba is taking over a processor making factories for the cell chip or something i think

    Not yet, but they might reach 360 soon. PS3 sales have grown a lot! And I expect to see sales go up even higher with this HD battle over.

    maybe theyll upgrade the 360 with either an internal or external bd player.

    yay Blu-ray won but it must suck having a HD dvd player.. oh well PS3 rules =P
