Sammi Back On The Big Screen

Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文) filmed the last scene for director Alan Mak (麥兆輝)'s new film Cha Zhi Nu <查之女> last night. She laughed that she could not hide the happiness she is feeling, because the scene was quite light-hearted. The scene was of her police officer character going undercover at a night club and flirting with a male dancer, played by Richie Ren (任賢齊).

Speaking of her overall thoughts about the filming process, Sammi said that she felt very comfortable, aside from the first three days when she was not used to filming after being away from acting for three years, and was able to absorb herself in her character. She added that she felt more relaxed than she had for her previous film Everlasting Regret <長恨歌>.

She said that she enjoyed working with Eason Chan (陳奕迅). She revealed that Eason had an amusing story to tell every day, and that he really enjoyed talking. She added that she felt, compared to his earlier years, Eason has become much more serious, because he now has a family. Eason once admitted that filming with a music artists like Sammi is quite stressful. Sammi modestly agreed, saying, because Eason has more experience than her, filming with him is nerve-racking.

Sammi said that the character in the film is quite similar to her, because the character is not concerned with aesthetics, nor is she pretty. She also pointed out that they are both over the age of 30 and still not married, so are worried about not ever being able to wed. She laughed that when the director was explaining the character to her, she told the director that he did not need to explain, because she is likely able to tell the director all about the character.

Since splitting with Andy Hui (許志安), Sammi has remained single, but Andy, on the other hand, has had numerous rumours about new loves. In recent news, it was revealed that Andy's new girlfriend is only aged 27. Sammi responded that, although Andy did not say if the news were true or false, she sends her best wishes to him. She added that he should not care about how others view the situation and, as long as the relationship is able to bring him happiness, he should move forward with it.

Responding to earlier reports that the two would reunite, Sammi said that the reporters thought too much, because there is to be no reunion. Asked if she would find someone younger in age than she is, she responded that anything is possible. She said that she might even find someone much older. She added that whatever God has arranged for her, she believes it to be the right path.

As for the recent ongoing scandal of sexually explicit photos allegedly of artists showing up on the internet, Sammi said she has only seen the blocked-out versions published by magazines, so she finds it difficult to determine their authenticity. She said she hopes that the police can punish the poster, because the issue has hurt the female artists severely. She added that the female artists involved have not stepped out in person to confirm or deny the authenticity of the photos, and, regardless of what happens, they will have to face it someday. But she pointed out that they may need time and space at the moment.
