It is rumoured on internet discussion boards that the photos were hacked from Edison Chen (陳冠希)'s computer, along with sexually explicit photos – allegedly of Edison giving oral sex to rumoured ex-girlfriend Gillian Chung (鍾欣桐) and him receiving oral sex from ex-girlfriend Bobo Chan (陳文媛) – which surfaced first and sparked the biggest scandal Hong Kong showbiz has had in years. The internet discussion boards have been buzzing with discussion on why Edison would have Cecilia photos on his PC. Cecilia's management said that they have reported the matter to police, and added they are pleased that the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild has taken steps to condemn the photos and to push for the police to locate the source of the photos swiftly. Cecilia's father-in-law Patrick Tse (謝賢) was extremely angry when asked about the scandal and said that, upon his return, he would seek out the perpetrator and rip the flesh from the perpetrator's body a shred at a time.
