Tuesday January 15, 2008 Hong Kong Raymond Lam Fung won the Best Male Newcomer gold award at TVB's annual JSG music awards ceremony several nights ago. When Raymond went on stage to receive the award, there were loud boos from some audience members. At the post award celebration, Raymond said, "I did not hear any boos from the audience. I only heard the singers cheering. Thank you everyone for supporting me. I really did not hear any boos!" Raymond admitted that he experienced pressure in receiving the Best Male Newcomer award. "I am not a newcomer in the entertainment industry. But I am a novice in the music industry. I only relaxed when I received the award on stage." Raymond continued, "I have been in the industry longer than other newcomers competing for this award. Forging into the music industry this time, I only hope that my performance meets audience and fans' expectations." "Since there was only one opportunity to win the annual JSG newcomer award, I didn't want to miss it. Fortunately, everyone supported me despite my background as a television artist. All the finalists nominated for awards mutually supported each other. We held hands on stage." "Hopefully everyone will acknowledge my hard efforts. Hmmmm~~.... I dunno bout his singing career~ but Im just not fond of him getting the award as there are many more better talented newcomer singers around!!!
I agree...there are many more ppl who deserve the newcomer award...He only released his album not long ago?!!!
Well, it's a TVB award show so everything is preset sorta speak .. I am not surprised that Ray won the award because that's the only way he will make it in the music industry; kinda boost him and his fans' confidence. Though I think the award will be more useful for other newcomers who desperately need it to further their careers. Ray is already successful in the entertainment industry in a way so his crossing over and took the award kinda pissed those who are dedicated to music. I would too if I were them. I can not say whether Ray really deserves or needs the award at all. I believe those people who supported Ray are fans from the drama side; not so much of music. Still too early to say that he's a good singer or his music is great. I heard a few songs and they're okay; not very unique either the music or his singing style; just another typical ballad and karaoke-alike to me. I haven't felt much or touched in that regards by his music/singing yet. Again, no offense intended to his loyal fans. This is simply my personal view and you may or may not agree with me; regardless, respect it.
yeh man i thnk he breathes out too hard u can actually haer it, and he doesnt have enough expression. i mjust admit he has a decent voice tho
I admit that he can sing, but there are other more talented newcomers. Raymond lam is already popular, due tvb drama's. The drama songs of him promoted him alot, I guess -unsure (since there are suporters, there are people who are against it) >.<
Whatever he's won it now When other rubbish singer wins awards noone says anything so they? Leave him alone -hug
Another example of another singer that don't come with the complete package. IMO Raymond can NOT sing. I miss those good old days.

i didn't hear any boos when he won the award i mostly heard people screaming and supporting him.. well i don't really mind if he wins the award or not =]
Raymond is cool! and his singing is actually pretty good too,but then again, there r a lot of other new comers who sound better than him, but still, Go Raymond!
As a new comer he can sing, but I also think there are others who has more potential to win.....well what do you expect from a tvb show, it's definitely biased.
anyway congrats to him! i dont know who are the other contestants competiting for this so i cant say much too. this kind of award there's always bound to be undeserved winners etc..
We all know the awards are rigged in one way or another...but he's a pretty decent singer...so I think he deserves a chance
he won mainly because of his popularity...from the new album he recently released, only the 1st track was good, others are so so
I think the boos is just some fans that their idol didnt get the award. Basically it does not means anything. They always boos and forever someone will get boos.
i only know one song haha, that ending theme of Drive of Life, but i think hes alright, bad sportsman ship from the audience lol
