Monday January 14, 2008 Hong Kong The latest creation from Stephen Chow (周星馳)'s directorial hand CJ7 <長江7號> will go on general release over the Chinese New Year period and a press conference for the film was held today, attended by Stephen, his god-daughter Jiao Xu (徐嬌) and child-actress Huang Lei (黃蕾). Other cast present included Lam Tze Chung (林子聰), Lee Sheung Ching (李尚正) and Steven Fung (馮勉恆), but female lead Kitty Zhang (張雨綺) was noticeably absent. Stephen said that filming with children and animals can be quite difficult, but he had a good time making this film, because he has discovered Jiao, who is a genius and because he found working with children very refreshing. Jiao sulked that it was hard work and long hours, but thanked Stephen for giving her the opportunity. With Stephen showing great care for Jiao throughout, he was asked when he plans to have children of his own, but he seemed shocked and replied that he had never thought about it. Asked about the reports that his mother had revealed his split with girlfriend Yu Wenfeng (于文鳳), he laughed that he had not read the reports so he did not know either. As for some readings from fortune tellers that say he will never do well with heartwarming films, Stephen said that he would be happy if the film just did alright and pointed out that there are still some comedic elements in the film and he is not actively looking for a change of genre. He added that many of the top ten grossing films in the world are heartwarming comedies. Asked about any similarities between CJ7 and After This Our Exile <父子>, Stephen said that they are very different. He emphasised that CJ7 is a film that he has been happiest filming and has gone most smoothly of recent years and he never imagined that he would have so much fun with the children, especially Jiao, who has an amazing sense and understanding. Asked how much the film has cost to make, he said that the most expensive cost was for Jiao, because she is a rarity among child actors. Movie Trailer: credits: batgwa.
so...did it come out yet??lol it seems like a good movie!!! the trailer was pretty funny, especially at the end. lol the kid's hilarious!! lol
you guys ever notice, that in the movie it's his son, but in real life it's his god daughter....i'm surprised
Hahahah, the trailer was hilarious. I missed Stephen's "mo lei tao" style of comedies despite watching the old ones numerous times. I guess I just wanted to see some new works. Hopefully this movie will fulfill that. I also believe the female child that played Stephen's son have a really good potential. Maybe the protege of Stepehen? Haha.
so...im kinda confused now...lol, is tht kid a guy or a girl?....lol..i thought he was a guy....but...yet...i dunno..lol
