War Of In-Laws Is Not The Same As The Devil Wears Prada

The highly anticipated TVB series War of In-Laws 2 <野蠻奶奶大戰戈師奶> begins airing this evening and a special promotional event was held yesterday to launch the show and celebrate the new year. All the cast members were present, including Liza Wang (汪明荃), Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), Myolie Wu (胡杏兒), Vivien Yeo (楊秀惠), Joyce Tang (滕麗名), Derek Kok (郭政鴻), Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Cha Cha Chan (陳文靜) and Suki Chui (徐淑敏).

After the success of the first series of War, Liza is looking forward to the show's continued success and said that she has had a good time working with Myolie and Bosco again. She revealed that they have become very good friends and she often treats them to home-made soup and dinner. Asked if she would like to attend their wedding banquet in real life, Liza said she did not know. As for the rumours linking Joyce and Derek, Liza said she only found out about it through the papers and she did not know if there was anything going on.

There have been suggestions that the background to the new series has been copied from the Hollywood blockbuster The Devil Wears Prada. Asked about this, Liza said that the two productions are very different and the storylines are not the same. Bosco said that the backdrop may be similar, but the story is original.

Despite suffering from a cold, Myolie still wore a sexy white backless dress to the event and it matched perfectly to Bosco's white suit. Asked if they had arranged this intentionally, Myolie said that it was a coincidence that their outfits matched so well. Asked if she was worried about ratings, she said that there was a little pressure, but pledged to appear in a wedding dress at a celebratory banquet if the show does well.

Bosco and Myolie revealed that they would be appearing together later on in the day as part of a New Year celebration.

After the recent rumours linking them, Joyce and Derek became the centre of attention during some of the games at the event and were paired up during a back-to-back shuffling game. They played along, but the game quickly ended when Derek lost to Joyce after just a gentle push. When he saw this, Bosco laughed: "Now I know what gallantry is!"

Asked about being singled out by her co-stars, Joyce laughed that it was just a bit of fun and she did not mind. As for whether or not she was worried about being joked about in the forthcoming run of promotional events, she said that she will be doing what she can to avoid it. Asked if she will be spending the new year with Derek, she said that she will be partying with a big group of friends.

Vivien appeared at the event wearing a black strappy dress and almost stole the show. Asked if she was trying to steal the attention, she explained that this was her outfit for an earlier function and she had not had time to change. When reporters asked if she will be spending the new year with rumoured boyfriend Eric Suen (孫耀威), she said that they had not arranged to meet and pointed out that even though they live in the same area, they do not bump into each other very much.
