I'm not sure how many people out there are as short as I am, but I am curious. I am 21 years old and I am about 5'3 or 5'4. I am slim yet I wonder where do guys/girls shop at around this height. Please don't say kids store such as Limited Too or things like that. I've tried American Eagle (I don't shop there, I really hate the collegiate look), I just wanted to try if I would fit their clothing. I tried an XS dress shirt, it is too large on me. My clothing style is tight, not very loose. Usually dressed in dress pants and and long sleeves or dress shirts. More of the mature look rather than Jeans, T-shirt or Polos. Truth is, I fit into women's clothing pefectly. I usually shop at New York and Co. for dress pants which are staight legged, size 2, petite, though I wear a size 0, but I wear the size 2 with a belt because they don't offer size 0. The reason I shop here is because, it fits perfectly for my height, and it does not drag. I do not need to alter them. As for tops, I can shop anywhere, usually women's clothing section. Such as Gap, or Talbot (old women's store). While for dress shirt I wear kids size, cheaper but looks good and tight. Because I have an hour glass shape, says my wife. For sweathers and such, I usually wear Roxy sweater, of course I do not wear any with flowering on it, that is too gender specific such as the color or the design. I.E. I own this Roxy sweater I recently purcahsed. Though, my wife does not care about gender specific clothes I wear because she picks the clothes out for me most of the time. Anyhow, my question is, where should I shop for a person like myself, or more specifically, if your height is similar to mine, where do you shop? Thanks.
mmm where (what country) are you from? the shops are different.. unless its a global franchised store or something..
u might need to visit stores that are more "international"... like Puma, FCUK, Diesel... although those might not have the style ur looking for... but those stores should have smaller sizes due to international size differences... if all else fails... a friend of mine orders custom made clothing for his specific style/size/texture/fabric... u just need to go to a tailor, find out what works for you and ur set...
Find a good tailor and alter everything you buy. This situation is slightly easier on girls since many stores do have a petite department and/or XXS option... But for guys, you just need to name your tailor your new best friend and invest every single penny into good alteration.
lol jokes, hahaha sry i dunno about any stores with cloths for smaller people. man. being married at 21 must be interesting, im 19 and i cant imagine getting married in 2 years, unless i won the lottery or something >_<
i'm actually also around your height. i usually just shop at places where everyone else shops. i usually just get things in size small. it fits, but its usually just a little on the long side (but then again i'm more on the bulky side lol). i know how hard it is to find good fitting clothing. i live in u.s. also.
I would have thought you'd live a hedonistic life instead of getting married if you won the lottery... -whistle
I am an RN, and I've been dating my wife for 5 years before getting married, happily high school sweet hearts. Its fine, your view is understandable, but I don't see the reason of not marrying at 21. Its nice to have someone there. @jokes, none taken.
These stores doesn't fit me neither. The XS just doesn't fit the way I want it to. Sample Pic of me and my wife.
I was serious about my previous advice: befriend a tailor. You can practically alter any given piece of garment (of course, it's beyond human help to take in a size 10 suit to make it size 2, but you get the general drill). You will eventually learn that it's not about the quantity of clothes you own but the fit and quality... Not to mention it conserves a lot of wardrobe space -tongue2 And oh, read GQ, they sometimes cover questions like that.
Yes I do wear women's clothing. @ Hiake, I understand what you are trying to say. The thing is that I don't mind going to a tailor but my mom, herself, knows how to sew. I would ask her but I don't like to be a burdensomd child. Then again, if I go to a tailor, again, my mom would have something to say about it. Lol, Asian family.
your 5 '4", dang lol you dont look that way in the picture, well neways like hiake said get a pretty good tailor otherwise, get XXS xD, wonder of they make that size >.<
LOL. I share your sentiment. But once you learn the proper vocabulary and try challenging the skills of your mom's (which sooner or later she would fail to meet up with expectation, unless she's a seamstress, in which case you should find her ex-coworkers and alter with them -tongue2) I shut my mother for good in terms of tailoring and making clothes for me when she ruined one of my favourite wool coats. She still comment on the amount of money I "waste" in visiting a tailor instead of get her to alter my clothes from time to time, then I would dead pan and say "I really want my clothing coming back wearable..." Better yet, buy clothes at stores which offer alteration (not sure which stores in the US have this service, ask around), then you wouldn't need to worry about bothering your mother for alterations -^_^
I have to agree, go to FCUK or Club Monaco. I usually have to buy stuff 1 size bigger in those stores because they tend to be more European. Abercrombie sizes tend to be more americanized so its a little bigger than usual.
