What happens if you get brain damage and die?

Discussion in 'Philosophy & Religion' started by hadouken, Jun 18, 2007.

  1. ok for people who believe in the afterworld and such, what do u think would happen if u happen to be a serial killer/pedo/baddest person in the world. You damage your brain and live out the last 5 years of your life as a 3 year old.

is god going to forgive u when u die? what happens when u die? do u goto heaven with the mentality of a 3 year old still?

I am a Buddhist, and i believe in the afterlife ie reincarnation. So, no Heaven and Hell for me.

As for the thread's question assuming that I was a serial killer/pedo/baddest person in the world, and after that I get brain damage -> I would still need to pay for what I have done whilst I was sane.

In this case, my bad karma would have increased tremendously. So it's not a matter of whether God will forgive me or not. I would have to go back to Earth again to learn my lessons, as usual, with the addition of the bad karma of all those bad deeds I have done.

As for the question "do u goto heaven with the mentality of a 3 year old still?", I'll assume it would be do you die with the mentality of a 3 yr old still, then the answer is no. Once you die, you'll be heading to a purgatory stage (where you shed off your conceited self and all the toxins) and the Hall of Memories, where you regain all of your past lives' memories and presently just-ended life's memories.

well, if you read the Bible, you are forgiven and will go to Heaven when you confesses your sins and repent. if he in fact become 3 yrs old, tell the family to take him to church and confess; he'll be forgiven and as for repent goes ... i doubt he'll be doing anything bad ever again (he's 3 yrs old).
i guess when he dies, he's dead.
i guess if there is in fact a heaven and hell, it wldnt be fair for others if he's judged as a 3 yrs old. so i guess he'll be an adult.

    Agonist.

I believe that consciousness will cease to exist when the body dies. It does not matter what the manner of death is, or at what age. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

luckily i don't really believe in god then lol, no heaven or hell for me, death is the same for everybody in my mind, once you die, it doesn't matter what you did, it would dissapear with you.

You lost me there ab289! :p

So you are saying when he's alive and living as a 3 yr old, he would be forgiven and goes to Heaven.
Then, after he's dead, he'll be judged as an adult and go to Hell? <_<

    As a Christian,

my viewpoint to this question is how would he/she be judged? Now, he/she is given the chance up to death to receive the salvation given from God and if he/she still denies it; then he/she will be punished. But that raises the question is a 3-year old child (mentally) capable of grasping the aspected of God and most of all will he/she remember their crimes that they commit so horribly in the past which now is limited within a 3-year old mind?

So, the question needs to be address to a 3-year old child. In my experience, a 3-year old is still able to tell the difference between when is obviously right and obviously wrong and i am assuming that this individual is still able to retain his/her memories of his/her past. So, in all fairness, he/she shouldn't be judged differently.

But if this individual is not able to remember their past faults and sins. Then on the day of judgement; he/she will judged upon the life that they lived, even if they didn't have the capibility to repent for their past sins since they do not remember their sins. It seems unfair and it isn't. Who's to say that God didn't give this individual many chances to receive the gift of salvation? Since God is infinite and all-knowing, if He does know this is to happen, wouldn't God give this individual as many chances as possible for him/her to accept Jesus Christ. So, in retropective view, if God exist and there is judgement to be uphold why live a regretability unrepentive sinful life and with it deny and probably curse the Christians that tries to spread and show that individual the truth that lies ahead.

anyways, in my viewpoint, everyone is given the chance to accept Christ and the gift of salvation (without mentioning the special cases). And ultimately it is between God and that individual.
