knoc might appear all tough and untouchable , but deep down inside, he's a softie. ;)

duuuude. or girl dude. you can't say that theists are trying to impress their God/god and therefore are ethical only for that reason. some of us theists are just like atheists: we still have a moral conscience and ethical ways even without a belief in God/a god/gods. unless you just worded that in a very negative sounding way.

A female dude is called a dudette I think.

I'd have to agree that his example is not that good.

@CNB: I don't think you can clearly differentiate the reason for doing good (in theists ' case) because while you can say "because the theist is noble and moral" SOMEHOW there's the bonus of securing the ticket to heaven (instead of hitching a ride to hell/eternal damnation)... Unless that incentive is gone, otherwise I will maintain that atheist is more ethical in doing good deed for no "bonuses"

^ well, i don't know. to be honest, sometimes i lie and other stuff i shouldn't do, but did anyway, i guess, in the heat of the moment. so if i'm doing good things for the sole purpose of going to heaven, shouldn't i be 100% good all the time? before i started to believe in God, i was ethical and moral. so when i started to believe in God, i became less ethical?

  11. from a Christian perspective NO good deed will get you into heaven, period

athiest cos it seems like the duty of theists is only done for personal gain not done for the good of others.
