    Hi all,

Recently for the past week i was deprived of sleep as i have assignments due in and so consequently, i developed 2 nasty ulcers in my mouth.

I was wondering do you have any tips on gettin rid of it? I can't barely eat with these two annoying "lip blisters". Thanks a bunch! :)

I thought they are called cranker sores... Ulcers are in the stomach, isn't it?

Anyways, drink LOADS of water. No coffee, tea or soda. Make sure you brush your teech after you eat (since you may fall asleep/nap) and rinse mouth with salf water/mouthwash.

    Painful but works.

    NP.

But just a side advice: if you ever get into the situation where you end up sleeping really late and get up really late (but still getting the hypothetical 8-hours sleep), try sleeping earlier (like 1 sleep cycle, around 3 hours before your "usual" sleeping time) and get up early to work. Early work are more effective and health than night work... no matter how much of a night owl you are...

You'll also end up saving time since you don't need to sleep as much if you sleep earlier and caught the 1am-3am natural rest period. So more time for work!

theres always those ointments/cream things u can apply
they don't taste too nice tho

alternatively, just grab a pinch of salt and rub it in, it'll hurt but atleast it helps kill off some bacteria (could always just eat salt n vinegar chips ehhehe)

    well yes it does work
but its not an "instant fix"
its like u should more regualarly drink it to keep a healthier diet
usually ulcers occur from eating "hot" stuff eg lotsa junk food
or u've bitten ur lip etc

yeah the salt is painful, but after the initial pain, u don't feel much afterwards heheeh
as long as it goes away, thats most important =)

Thanks Reno. You mean "hot" you mean "Eet Hee?" lol! Really hard to pronounce over the net.

But yes as long as i goes away that is the most important stuff, cause i cant stuff food in my mouth for the past couple of days. Annoyin...

Well for me yes...but by late nights i mean "lack of sleep" which was 3 hours per day for 5 days :/

Well in an indirect way it is caused by "lack of sleep" because losing sleep will compromise your immune system -- more likely get minor infection in the microscopic cuts (caused by tearing and eating in general) inside your oral cavity = cranker sores.

So keeping good oral hygiene, brushing teeth (even if you are not going to bed), rinse mouth, and drink LOADS of water helps. :D

@ Kachi_no_Kemuri: Good luck on whatever you are losing sleep for! My guess is exams or papers...

My mum always tells me to lay off the junk food, eat more fruits and drink more!
I also find rinsing your mouth with salty water every night helps too

Most junk food are crunchy (think chips and crisps), and creates TONS of tiny tiny cuts in your mouth that are prone to infection...

Fruit boosts your immune system and water clears the bacteria build-up.

    Everything make sense :D

could always try listerine rinses too
tho i think they'd hurt more than the salt lolz

well its important to have a balanced diet
tho im sure no1 really follows it hahaha
its like i'll just usually binge eat wateva i feel like at a point in time....
then deal with the pain afterwards heheeh

and wen you get very "Eet Hee", ur prone to sore throats too....
but its always nice to keep thinking, fighting fire with fire lolz and eat worse stuff.... =P
tho it never seems to work lol

start drinking an abnormal amount of water...just rid ur body of toxins.

and if the salt thing is too painful, i think u can get medication from pharmacies for the sores...you might or might not need a prescription. but if you're going to be staying up late all the time and not getting enough sleep you might as well get a tube from the doctors. i've tried it before (i pull a lot of all nighters) and the sores go away after putting it on for one or two days (depending on how bad they are). it's not painful and it doesn't come off and it seals the sores so they don't sting when u eat other stuff. i think it's called orajel or something.

drink lots of fluids and stay away from fried stiff. they usually go away pretty quick if u change ur eating habits.
