A welcome return to the wacky, feel-good movies of yesteryear, the film is packed with colorful characters, side-splitting antics, and a host of silly celebrity cameos, ranging from Francis Ng as a gangster to Kelly Chen as the Goddess of Mercy. Vincent Kok, who directed Cheng's breakthrough film Dragon Loaded 2003, returns the favor by starring in It's a Wonderful Life (and subjecting himself to various humiliations in the process). Tony Leung Ka Fai takes on a delightfully evil role, while Teresa Mo stomps on all as his dominating wife. Other members of the crack team include comedy regular Cheung Tat Ming, Dragon Reloaded co-star Miki Yeung, labelmate Alex Fong Lik Sun, TV actress Louis So, and Cecilia Cheung-lookalike newcomer Mia Yam. In the center of all this chaos is of course director and leading man Ronald Cheng, who puts both his comic and creative chops to good use in this hilarious comedy. Heavenly god Thunder (Ronald Cheng) is in a bit of a bind. Years ago, he made an empty promise to a child named Ding Dong, but heavenly rules strictly forbid disingenuity. To clean his slate, Thunder descends from heaven to assist Ding Dong (Vincent Kok), who has since grown up to be a portly, harried man of many misfortunes. At work, he's constantly bullied by his boss (Tony Leung). His kooky artist wife (TV actress Louisa So) is in danger of being stolen away by her even crazier cousin (Cheung Tat Ming). His stuttering brother-in-law (Alex Fong) is in trouble with the triads because of his gambling girlfriend (Miki Yeung). His sister (Kate Yeung, Eternal Summer) is a crying lovelorn mess. Having promised his girlfriend (Mia Yam) a timely return, Thunder assumes that he can fix everything with a snap of his fingers, but things aren't as simple as they seem in the mortal world.
