When it comes to reading, most people prefer to read from a real book instead from monitor. What book are you currently reading? I'm currently reading: Parallel Worlds by Michio Kaku
oh man, i just finished reading Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom and... i loved it. it's just about the first book my teacher assigned that i really liked, and the ONLY book i've ever cried through. though some people may call it cheesy, i recommend it to everyone.
I just finished "Howl's Moving Castle" the novel by Diana Wynne Jones, a great book and very curious story, quite a different experience from the animated film by Hayao Miyazaki (both are great in my opinion); also chomping through a bunch of Ray Bradbury novellas and short stories (he amazes me by the sheer volume of books he pen), The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman (have to finish it before the film come out!!! Stars Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, both of whom I detest with a passion, but I am still totally anticipating the film despite them). Also doing some rereading of Haruki Murakami (Norwegian Wood and his travel diaries) and Zita Law in Chinese. I am SO digging my own grave here and now by starting so many novels at once... I am totally not gonna make the assignment deadlines >_<b
im always attempt to read my txtbooks...but it don't work.....i was reading this amy tam book for a year and still on like 30 pages...ya im a slow reader
Finished 2 books by Henning Mankell in 5 days and currently reading Brave New World by Aldous Huxley as I've never got round to read it when I was still at school.
If you're read "Brave New World" and you enjoy reading it... I recommand you to read "1984" and "Animal Farm"... These 3 novels have good connection between one another... and it's quite intresting... "Brave New World" was a good book.... Drugs with no side effect, that's the way to GO!!! -scooter
Maybe the reason you didn't understand the book because you read that book in Grade 7.... Give it another try... I'm sure you'll get it now... =) But they did make a movie =)... Give's you a better understanding... Hah
Yeah 1984 and Animal Farm was on the obliged booklist for English at my school so I've read those. Thanks for recommending them anyway, maybe others can pick up this recommendation. But if you like these kind of themes I can strongely recommend 'Oryx And Crake' by Margaret Atwood, although not exactly political (if you dig deeper sure you can find it) but more about messing around with genetics in the future. At the end you will ask youserlf what you would do if you ever find yourself in the position of the protagonist.
naww....the best book imo has to be silverwing series and the outsider and dr seus books...and hk rowling books
I personally would luv to live in the society of "Brave New World" as long as you are "Alpha" or "Beta".... Hah
my text books. i know it's spring break ... but can't help it. talk about messed up professor .. have an exam right after spring break!
OMG, Brave New World was like the ONLY reading from highschool that I remotely like, um, scratch that, I adore since I just realize after having a reread with most of the assigned reading during highschool, most of them are pretty intense and interesting. Go try "Farenheit 451" too, Ray Bradbury was great in the story telling. "Animal Farm" was kind of distracting in the abundance of symbolism/metaphors/parallels so I didn't like it as much as "1984" Really, who wouldn't? To be an alpha or a beta was to know that you are born in privilige -- I would love to be born in privilige with a silver spoon too!
If you like The Art of War by Sun Tse, you can try: - The book of 5 Rings by Miyamoto Musashi - On War by Karl von Clausowitz - Romance of the 3 Kingdoms (to see how the strategies are being used)
this thread is very similar to this one: http://www.dramasian.com/showthread.php?t=5734 --- well im reading my text books at the moment, how depresssing >.<
