Has anyone heard of the Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Sociey? It's an honor society for Undergrads in college. Do you guys think that this is a valid honor society?
SAL is a legit honor society. To become eligible to join, you must earn a 3.5 or higher GPA in at least one of the semesters/quarters of your freshman year. You will automatically be invited to join if you meet the requirement...at least that is how it works for the chapter at the University of Arizona. Whether or not you find it to be beneficial all depends on how much time you will spend as a member (inactive, active, officer, etc). They do offer various scholarships for members but they usually require you to be actively involved in the society. Personally, I found it all to be useless. Good luck.
these types of societies are actually quite useful ... it may not seem so during your stay in your particular university/college. however, these societies can help you immensely after your uni/college life. some societies have really well-grounded connection in the business/law/gov/edu/engineering/etc. jobs and careers. so, best not to give up these types of opportunities.
often alot of these honor societies have a very loyal alumni associated therefore they often come back and have talks and have events when you can meet these people high end people meet high end students which leads to awesome jobs for these students straight out of school
