Taiwan's newest boy band Lollipop releases their debut EP. Though newcomers, the six-member group already has a huge fanbase in Taiwan thanks to the popularity of their show, Bang Bang Tang. Modeled after the even more popular Blackie Show, Bang Bang Tang, or Lollipop, is the brain child of music channel Channel V, which hoped to repeat the success of Blackie Show with another stars-in-training show. Sure enough, Bang Bang Tang's entertaining Making the Band meets Pop Idol meets Asian variety show format quickly gained a loyal following amongst young viewers. Hosted by singer Fan Wei Qi, the show began broadcast in August 2006 with 20 potential stars selected from auditions throughout Taiwan. In the following months, the boys participated in various classes, performances, and competitions on the show, which airs daily. Some boys were eliminated, while new members were added, and in December, six - Ao Quan, Prince, Xiao Yu, Xiao Jie, A Wei, and William - were chosen to form a new group, officially debuting at the annual Channel V concert. Lollipop's EP comes with three new songs and two remixes. Title track Lollipop (Track 1) is an up-tempo, youthful dance song, while "Lessons in Love" (Track 3) is an energetic number reflecting the younger generation's perspectives towards love. The 50-minute DVD comes with the music video and making of for Lollipop and behind-the-scenes material, including footage of the boys' vocal and dancing training, poster shoot, and recording experience.
